Is Sebastian not interested in same-sex romance because he is straight? Or is there something I missed about the Chantry in general not supporting same-sex relationships?

Just curious.

Um... thanks for the replies. Not really what I was asking though. Never mind, I'm not sure how to explain what I mean =]

I don't think the Chantry says anything about same-sex relationships. It is just Sebastian's personal preference.

You were asking whether he was straight, or whether he was not interested in a same sex relationship simply because it was against Chantry rules.

He's straight.

From what I've read, the only people in Thedas that have a problem with not being straight is nobles, and that is solely because only a straight couple can conceive heirs.

There's nothing that we, the players, are shown that indicates the Chantry is against same sex relationships.  That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, however I think if it did then it would've come up regarding Leliana.  Even if just for her to say the other sisters would never approve when she's involved with a female Warden.

Chantry dudes have this pattern:

Alistair - straight
Sebastian - straight

I'm not sure if this is more related to the Chantry or the fact that they're both royalty. It's probably the latter. Thedas isn't ready for kings to be marrying each other.

This is a good point.

Ah yes. I did forget her. Thanks for that, I guess it's probably not a Chantry thing after all.

So no inspecting the crown jewels?  No comparing royal scepters?  No forging the king's sword?  No penning a royal declaration?  ...  I should stop now.

There's also that Grand Cleric or Revered Mother or something.. I forget.. a high ranked member of the clergy anyway who admits to being seduced by Marjolaine in Leliana's DLC and doesn't say anything about Chantry laws forbidding it.

Both Aveline and Donnic are straight. If you invite Donnic to Hanging Man (during the Long Road quest), for Fem-Hawke, Donnic will think you're hitting on him; for Male Hawke, Donnic will think you're using him to get close to Aveline.

Well Aveline does ask FemHawke if a relationship between them would've worked if you choose all the flirt dialogs.
Though that might be interpreted as "If I was attracted to women how would that have worked?" type of question.

"Same-sex relations are generally considered odd but not immoral in Ferelden. Orlesians regard homosexuality as a mere quirk of character, and the Antivan Crows show a winking tolerance for (if not encouragement of) relations with multiple partners of either sex. There is pressure in certain circles, such as the City Elves and the human nobility, to marry an opposite-gendered partner, but this is motivated by pragmatism rather than morality; a homosexual couple cannot have biological children. For a dying race like the elves, it is vital that every fertile individual produce offspring. "

I nerdraged hard when I read that Wade and Herren were a gay couple.  (Yeah, I didn't realize it, I am THAT dense about it.)  Friend asked me why and said I didn't seem the homophobic type.  I said no, because I passed up a diamond mine of puns.  The guy spends his days hammering hot metal on an anvil.  For crying out loud, he excitedly crafts me a set of dragonbone armor!

...  Still bothers me to think about all the missed jokes.  :(
