im glad we see eye to eye on that. and polite has yet to asnwer what i asked him wich was, how could he love lotsb (wich btw had a heavy shooter element) but hate arrival? to me the gameplay resembled lotsb but he's the one saying me is dying because bioware is favoring the shooter fanbase. can we say hypocrite?

Someone that doesn't eat sleep and breathe games?
Someone that hasn't been playing since they were 5?
Please enlighten me.

Arrival was linear. It was a shooter mission
It indicates nothing. It was constrained and linear because it really is -- much to my surprise -- bridging DLC. I thought the fact it could be played immediately after Horizon would mean it was a just a side mission.
Now we know that ME3 is going to start with an inquest, maybe even a full-blown trial. Hackett says so.
Spectre or no, killing 300,000 people is an act of war.
And that's all this mission tells us. It no more means ME3 will be a shooter than "Stolen Memories" means it will be a James Bond-type heist game or "Overlord" meant the series is going for vehicular combat.
This forum really has turned into a chat room for drama queens.

I alway like your post. They're alway thought full and indepth. But I have to say I disagree with you.... It's a Prelude dlc. A start to ME3. A darker story that prelude to the death, sacrifice and betrial to come. Yes, it is shooter heavy but that the nature of the mission. Your forgeting that it's a story about the reaper trying to lure Sheperd into a trap with his/her own fear so they can have a vanguard just in time for the invasion. The got Sheperd to come alone in a vonrible state. Who was he/she going to talk to? And was their any choice? Even not doing the mission doomed everyone. To me it just felt like a normal mission with a start, fight , in between, fight, and end....Like ever mission in ME2. It's a bridge to ME3. It may end ME2 but it start ME3 on the ground running.

Seriously?
It was kinda obvious.
They weren't exactly challenging but I mean it was obvious Bioware tried to add a few things here and there that weren't simply shoot-shoot-reload-shoot.

When do they add 560 MS points back to my account??? Or did you mean I should be happy that someone accepts my money for goods and services????Reptilian Rob wrote...

Yes more people get degrees...lower standards, if you don't believe me go to your local college/university and watch people trying to graduate not know their degree level...not smarter just more degrees handed out
On to arrival: F humanity...Seriously I'll be buy rounds of drinks with Bartarians before I lift a finger to stop the Reapers from destroying humanity if they try to put me on trial...Shepard will be on the run when the reapers come all the ****s and politicians will look up and shout
"Save us, Sheperd!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No." They had a choice*, I told them about the Reapers over two years ago, saved the citadel from a reaper and proclaimed that we had to find a way to stop them, and they responded, "Ah yes, reapers. We have dismissed these claims, but what you did was wrong and we're going to screw you over for it, again." You'd think after the conduit incident they would have realised that I know what I'm doing.---
Otherwise the story was ok although more dialog trees/ ways to handle problems within the DLC would have been good, even with the overall ending not changing. This plus LotSB, Legion, Tali's and Mordin's loyalty missions and brief talks with Liara and Wrex make up ME2 for me everything else was mostly irrelevant to the ME1 story.
Would have liked to know more about the Rho artifact's true purpose--if it was just there to countdown the reapers coming, assuming they failed two other attempts to get to here then they are about on par with the riddler in stupidity.

No sir.
You get what you pay for, IMO.
And for $7.00 it was about what I expected.

no i mean the jfk zombie mode bs from cod black ops...... now a days games introduce this stupid zombie multiplayer wich imo is horrible. every cod i have seen ends up with some zombie mode and frankly if bioware ever and i mean ever went to that route for mass effect thats it for me on the franchise. i dont mind heavy gun play i dont mind rpgs but the one thing i cannot stand are zombies and zombie modes

i know right? i promise you youll see that sometime this week. lets all be adults here and admit that fans are greedy and it isnt right to blame the devs because the fans got there hopes up. just alot of the comments on these boards that ive seen really make me embarressed to be a mass effect fan. i dont know who said it but someone made a bogus remark about the chick who did the chat with mac walters lastweek. i thought that was bogus cause the fans were let down by how long and rigged the chat lasted. i think bioware should hire me as there bodyguard because i am not affraid to speak my mind wether its peacfully or mean

The storyline was alright. It was definitely too short and rushed. The DLC as a whole was small. Frankly, I still don't like that the Reapers were featured in a DLC at all, much less such a tiny one. This would have been better as a sequel to Bring Down the Sky.

Indeed. Heck, there were subtle hints to some puzzle/RPG mechanics thrown into the infiltration mission. I can understand the heavy presence of shooting in the later half of the DLC, but Mass Effect has always been a shooter, a tactical one at that. Considering the rather apparent limitations of resources and budget they had with this piece of DLC, they did a rather good job on it.Uszi wrote...

In response to the association of the "fall" of Bioware and DA2: They are each isolated cases. The Dragon Age team made some wrong design decisions and the metacritic scores show that. I would not be too worried about that affecting the Mass Effect team at all. But in the case for DA2, it was not a bad game; it "felt" rushed and I have no doubt in my mind that it suffered for that, but consider it a minor to moderate taint in Bioware's reputation. One that they will learn from and grow to become a better developer.
Take Arrival for what it is; a proportionaly sized DLC that bridges the gap between 2 and 3 and offers a glimpse to what is to come. A tease if you will. And from what we know from Bioware, they love teasing.

The shooting was my favorite thing about this DLC. It was challenging. Having Shepard fight through so many enemies completely on his own was a nice change of pace. It makes you appreciate your squad more.

Yeah I was surprised at just how much my squadmates help in a fight! After I finished I swore to not take my squad for granted ever again!

Really I did not mind it. With the limited voice actors, they really can make a super deep and involved DLC. The fact that the dialogue didn't branch sort of annoys me, but the speaking parts (mostly the last 2) were quite weighty.
Also, the mix between talking and action was pretty much consistent with most of the main game. I don't get what is up with this forum, but is is just so damn negative anymore.
I agree, this DLC was much like Samara's Recruitment or Thane's recruitment; Not a ton of dialog but plenty of combat.
Now, it did have dialog and in my opinion that dialog was well done. Hacketts initial exchange with you aboard the Normandy, Your rescue of the Doctor, your talk with her aboard the Kodiak, your talk with her after the *Spoilers******************* Betrayal, you talks with her while stopping her plan, and then of course the debrief with Hackett.
Now, the DLC actually actually had some interesting new additions to combat. First was the final stand, which was hopeless, then there was the controlling the mech part. Finally you were fighting alone for most of the DLC, which was satisfying. These all felt novel and unique.
Solving the vent puzzle at the beginning was sorta fun but I will admit, fighting the same enemies as always gets repetitive and quite boring.

These are two different teams with very different people at the helm. It would be like saying ME3 would be a failure because DA2 sucked (Oh wait, you did that huh?).
Different people, different designs, different result.
