The part of me that still has hopes for this franchise thinks that they have removed themselves from the picture to fight a threat that is being covered up by the Mage-Templar wars, as a generic storyline. My personal Warden is off in mirror world with Morrigan and Hawke has most likely dissappeared as a result of Flemeth shenanigans. The idea is that all these disparate threads start to come together in DA3 and beyond.

The pessimist, of course, says that they were crushed by falling rocks, so the devs don't have to do any work or acknowledge anything about them.

Doing something regarding the war between Templars, Magisters and the Chantry, and quite possibly something also regarding the Darkspawn, possibly the Architect and Old Gods. And perhaps even something regarding Morrigan, Flemeth and the Old God Boy.

Unfortunately my Warden couldn't go with Morrigan, and has to search for her on her own. OGB's also Alistair's, so... :?

Considering my Warden and Champion are both Mages and related by blood, they are due for a long-overdue family reunion. And since the Warden had a threesome with Leliana and Isabela, who is now the squeeze of the Champion, that reunion might get exciting. Four-way exciting.

ThePasserby is all for keeping it in the family? :P

As far as I can tell, they were abducted by aliens. Or possibly shapeshifting witches with pet dragon gods. Cough.

Well... All I know is my current Warden is off in Denerim chillen. Using the abilities he received from his advanced Tainted through the Warden's keep to live longer totally. Don't just love being a Blood mage? Also Commander of the Grey/Gray randomly vanished. And left his sword Vigilante somewhere. Dunno where.

As for my dear Jayden Hawke.... He didn't vanish he is off on the shop with Isabella doing job and AVOIDING any strings Flemeth has hanging around

I believe that my Hawke (with Anders) and my Amell (who apparently convinced the King to go with her, or vice versa) have removed themselves from the situation and are gearing up for the final conflict. Whether it's from information gleaned from, say, Flemeth, or other sources, they're getting ready for the big one to pop.

My Warden is ruling Ferelden in the shadows while shagging Alistair who is her toy boy, and experimenting with bloodmagic with Avernus in order to make her and Alistair outlive the other wardens, and studying Morrigan's Eluvian in case things get harsh in Thedas and they have to get out.

Hawke probably will be in the slaver Ship with Isabella, watching the world burning while drinking Orlesian looted wine.

Both awaiting Flemmeth's next movement without knowing it as both are probably pawns in her claws.

Viscount? My Hawke is no Viscount.
Those ingrates at Kirkwall refused to make my mage one. It's not as if I would've declared myself a Magister and enslaved the entire city, sacrificing many to fuel my depraved blood magic rituals.

.... actually that's exactly what I would've done.

While wearing Ser Isaac's armor, The Champion activated the Awesome Button that sent both of them in a far away land where Revan and The Exile are trying to fix the Ebon Hawk.

Honestly, your guess is as good as mine :P

Remember the Grey Warden letter from Avernus? He discovered something about Grey Warden blood. Maybe that has something to do with their disappearance?

It's my opinion that Flemeth eventually runs them down and takes them off for Special Hero Training or similar. I think they'll show up again for the Final Climactic Battle.

Shepard is trying to use the Normandy to give them a jump, but it's not working.  So the Bhaalspawn went to get the planar sphere and they're going to try that next.

If that's the case, I want an epic montage!!

Seriously, in my first game, the Hero of Ferelden is lying in a tomb while my Hawke executed the love of her life and ran off alone.

In my second game, I chose a stock DA save, so some ruthless dwarf I don't even know is the Hero and this Hawke is going to skip out with Fenris.

I'm not sure which save I'll take with my third Hawke.

I want them to either team up and save the world or have an epic fist fight in the Grand Cathedral in Val Royeaux. The victor gets to backhand the Divine.

xD!! I like that Rue. Though we have too many people who would rage and complain 'Uh no Warden would be deadz!! Championz be too oldz!' I say eff em' though. Nothing a little possession and blood magic can't fix.

Assuming that was even where they going with it. That is only the Hero. The Champion is no Grey Warden. Yet anyway. As for Avernus' letter. I think that is dependent on a player's plot flags anyway. I could be wrong. It was a DLC afterall. DLCs are nice for giving insight at times but I doubt Avernus could be the link. Not when he had to many results. Death, Nice experiments, cruel experiments.

Don't get me wrong. I doubt they would make the Grey Wardens completely obsolete. But the Grey Warden's true focus is dark spawn. You maybe stuck with just some deep roads trip side quests even in DA3.
