Does rune of devastation increase all spell damage as well as staff damage? If that's the case it would be a much stronger rune for a spellcaster that the primeval lyrium rune if i understand correctly, wouldn't it?
Devastation or Primeval for Spellcaster?

Rune of devastation says all damage, so also of interest would be whether devastation or say, rune of spirit is better on a dagger.
On my low blade a rune of spirit adds 9 damage, which is an increase of a little more that 20% on that weapon, while devastation adds just 6%. Of course if it adds 6% damage on both wielded daggers and increases things like damage from elemental weapons, there might not be much of a difference.
Has anyone done some calculations or testing to determine what would be the best rune setup? I would be very interested to hear.
Another thing i just thought of o.O does the primeval lyrium rune increase attack speed for both daggers, or just the dagger it is used on. Of great interest to me since i may want to use it on my offhand if that's the case.

The primevil lyrium rune will increase your overall attack speed no matter which weapon it is on, as long as that weapon is equipped. So it doesn't matter if it is main hand or off hand.
I don't know about the devastation rune though.

Thanks for clearing up the lyrium rune. Devastation rune still up in the air, guess the game hasn't been around long enough for people to have tested everything. All damage as the devastation rune says could mean all weapon damage or all character damage, really wish crpgs would become better at more precise tooltips, not this: "this thing increases damage" and "this might make you harder to hit, though we're not sure"

Devastation rune will increase all damage done by abilities as well by 10%, whereas elemental or simple +dmg runes add a flat ammount regardless of the attack being used.
Id go devastation over plr for a caster. Their juice lies in spells and abilities, not the basic attack.

I am almost positive that anything that increases attack speed will also increase spell casting speed.

I had not even thought of that. Now i may have "wasted" my lyrium rune on Isabela.

I did a quick test and it appear that primeval lyrium rune is essentially an always online and limited to one character haste. So yes, apparently, it does speed up the casting animation of all spells and abilities.

Spell DPS is limited more by cooldowns than casting times though.
You can't disregard casting times because it might mean you manage to catch that CCC that was about to expire while you twirled your staff.
But the your % DPS gain on a staff will be less than if you use it on a non caster.
