I've spoken to her to between planets and even broke it off with Liara right at the start when she first says shes looked into your background. But Ash seems to keep telling me shes needs to clean out the guns or whatever. Whats got me worried is that the only time she spoke to me in depth is right after she finished speaking on the intercom her sister said Kaidan is cute.

I didn't mind at first and continued to finish quests and she started to call me skipper and says she wants to talk but never actually does. I'm at end game now and she didnt come to comfort me when the Normandy was grounded is it safe to say I blew it with her? If I finish the game but don't get the romance scene and transfer the file to ME2 will the photo of her be on my desk to show that I'm in a relationship with her or is it pretty much over?

Any help would be appreciated thanks! :happy:

I would take it as guaranteed that some how you lost her...the moment she said Kaiden is cute sealed the deal.

If you play on PC and you don't want to replay then I guess you can edit your save games or hit masseffect2saves.com for an Ash-romance-Shep.

Yeah ive had this during my current game. Only time its ever happend. Guess she got sick of me putting her down every now and then. Ah well looks like i know who to save now......

I've only heard the "kaiden is cute" from her sister when I was playing a Femshep. As a Maleshep her sister says that "Shepard is cute". Is your Shepard Male or Female?

you need to talk to her after every plot mission to progress the romance. as far as I remember, her sister will mention Kaidan regardless (in case of maleshep - she'll say that Kaidan and Shepard are cute) if you ask Ashley about it she should say that she doesn't get involved with people she serves with, at which point you can ask her if she'd make an exception for you - in other words, you flirt.

Generally as long as you don't take the "you are out of line" and other responses of that sort with her, talk after every plot mission and ask her a lot of question on the left side of the wheel, you should have the romance locked in. unlike ME2 - ME1 romances are basically guilty until proven Innocent - you start out with flags already in place and you either encourage them or put them down, but they are already initiated for you.

Ive had it the once with my Male shep. Only time ive not been forced into a 3 way fight with her and Liara.....but then she also got blown up anyways...reject me

If you're playing Male Shep and get the "Kaidan's cute" from her sister you've lost it. One sure-fire way to do that is if you take the option on the left when she talks about aliens (You're out of line I think) that cuts off the romance at the heels. May be other ways to screw it up earlier on but I don't know any for sure.

I find it ironic that people have this problem so much while I tried NOT to romance Ashley and failed. Why do things never work out the way they're supposed to?

I think ashely is far to easy to romance, I tried to get through without a romance too and noww that im about to be on ilos it turns out I DID romance her... :/

I never said anything flirty or romantic, I just treated her like every other squadmate, but when we went to Illos there she was in my cabin! I told her to get lost and she still wouldn't take no for an answer. She practically stalked me on ME2, with the private message and everything. That was really annoying.

At the time of typing this, I've just told Ash to sod off when she came to comfort me after the Normandy was grounded. I'm hoping this has actually cancelled the romance but I'll get back to you on the final word.

Update: It worked. For those of you who actually have a save before venturing to the Citadel so you can go to Ilos to kick Saren's Turian ass, suck in your Paragon (unless you're Renegade anyway) and tell Ash to bite her tongue. The romance will be severed from that point on.

Trouble for me, I'm a main Paragade but being an ass to Ash was pretty hard. Still, I can look forward to the lovely Tali in ME2~

I envy you. The problem is, I consider my first playthrough to be my personal 'canon' or at least preferred Mass Effect story because that's the one where all of the plot twists are shocking and unexpected. But at the time of ME1, I was completely ignorant about the romance system - you can't really look it up without spoiling the wonderful plot twists that are a part of what make Mass Effect so great. So because I was paragon, now my main character is permanently stuck being stalked by Ashley Williams. I would kill her on Virmire a hundred times over if I only I could go back to before I knew. I hope Bioware does something about this in ME3 - I wouldn't like the game any less for it, but it would really ruin my day if there was a big deal about Shepard "sleeping with Ashley" even though HE NEVER DID.
