Has anyone else noticed that on the spine of their Mass Effect 2 case, the EA logo is inside a circle with the ME swooshy thing? Now if you go and look at Dragon Age, it's inside a blood drago. If you happen to own a Tiger Woods game, you'll see that it's inside a golf ball.

A lot of posters on this forum like to suggest that EA are somehow a bad thing for BioWare's creativity, but that is really not the case. No other publisher puts as much effort into, or is as creative with, their logo on the game box. This really does send a strong message to me -- that EA really care about and respect the developers artistic vision.

Additionally, i keep my games on a shelf in a cupboard, and when i browse them, the Mass Effect spine really sticks out because of this. So the next time you want to complain about EA, maybe weigh up the positives against the negatives before doing so.

If anyone is going to publish for BioWare, i'm glad it's Electronic Arts.

Maybe, or maybe they just wanna say "hey, we got a cool game logo, you don't, that means we're better than you"

I would suggest that a "LOGO" is a poor way to judge the merits of EA with regard to Bioware. By the way go play Dragon Age 2 and see if you still agree that EA is good for Bioware.

I pre-ordered the signature edition, have played it twice, unlocked all of the achievements, and absolutely adore it.

And it's not so much the fact that the logos look really good, as much as the symbolism behind their willigness to alter their company image to fit in with the box art. It sends a clear message to me.

I like their little logo opening things. Other than that...I refer to my previous post.

I adore EA in that they supply money/resources to keep Bioware games alive. Life would be void of great adventures without them.

It's not just a logo though. It is a message.

Activison just plant their ugly logo on every game with precisely zero thought for how it will affect the aesthetic appeal of a game case. EA go to some trouble to make theirs fit, showing the utmost respect for their developers.

And just look at this Image IPB

Same, except for the achievement part.

Not to say Dragon Age 2 isn't rushed in some places but it would'n make sense to delay it a couple of months because of SWTOR and then at the end of the year Mass Effect 3. They would have had to delay it for a year and that would be overkill and commercially not interesting. Even if BioWare was not part of EA someone would have noticed that.

They care about sales, and making the outside of the case more pleasing to the eye helps to that end.

It is to their advantage to make an "EA" logo that is tasteful, and blends in with the rest of the outside of the case. Besides, I seriously doubt anyone at EA is breaking a sweat coming up with fashionable ways to display "EA" on the games that they publish.

What would you otherwise expect? Displaying "EA" in plain, black font?

I understand where you're coming from OP, but you're taking this a little too far. Sure, it's nice to look at and maybe it shows they care a little... so what?

If anything, the fact that they're pumping money into the franchise counts for a hell of a lot more.

They are the only publisher doing this. So even if you disagree with my idea that it's indacitive of their deeper feelings towards their developers, you must be able to appreciate that, as the only publisher displaying any sense of verve with their part on the cover art, they are the best choice to publish BioWare games anyway.

I do like how they do the logos. I like their money.

I don't like that they make deadlines that force devs to work insane amounts of overtime and still have to cut content that they 'just didn't have time for".

Just think if they spent the money on the actual product instead of the wrapping?

Sshhh, adults are talking.

My politely worded opinion was for the benefit of the community. Not to "mildly annoy it" or whatever it is trolls are supposed to do.

You don't seem to have quite understood the point i am making.

Yes, the fancy logos look awesome... but they clearly demonstrate a respect for the developers artistic vision.

Persistent troll seems to be a title that could much more aptly be bestowed upon you.

I just explained my line of thinking, yet you ignore it just to sew more discord in my discussion. Stop it.

You don't need to agree with me, though at least have the decorum to disagree in a respectful manner.

Well since you posted this same statement in two different sections of the ME forums I am unsure as to whether or not you're trolling or just one of those rare EA fans I heard about.

Either way, you think that a company like BioWare having EA backing them is a positive thing because EA knows how to make aesthetically pleasing box art.  All box art will do is appeal to the certain demographic of people who just look for the coolest box art of a game and automatically assume it has to be great because said box art is so appealing.  Believe it or not there is a psychological aspect to the marketing and production of games.

I for one have never cared for EA.  The majortiy of the games that they get their claws on tend to be sub par, or just down right horrible.
