I'm sorry king bacqout, i was unaware i couldn't have an opinion.

Don't be silly; of course you can have an opinion. All i'm saying is that when your opinion doesn't align with my own, i will politely explain why you are mistaken.

So i have an opinion, but if it doesnt align with yours, its wrong?

You sir, are beyond help.

I think blacquot meant to say why HE FEELS you are mistaken. Of course, if he didn't, then that is a shame.

I get what you mean, EA sacrificing the recognition of their logo, but the thing is that it is indeed just two letters. The basic circle is just to make the "EA" on the box, if it is just a normal circle, pop and stand out more on the box. Their actual logo is nothing more than two capitilized letters.

I don't think it is a matter of someone should like EA just for fashioning a circular logo in the artistic style akin to that particular game/series. I do think it is something to give a nod to EA for, however.
I don't really think they are sacrificing their recognition as much as you think, though. A few examples are already listed:

Dragon Age EA Logo:
Circular blood dragon, crimson red. The EA is a pure white. This color scheme makes the "EA" part pop while maintaining the aesthetic value of the case's artwork.

Mass Effect 2 EA Logo
Circular badge, grayish/silver. The EA is a bright red. This color scheme also makes the "EA" part pop.

Tiger Woods games EA Logo
White golf ball, EA is black. You get the point.

It is a marketting strategy. At a very quick glance, your concious mind will notice it as a Mass Effect logo. However, your subconcious (at the very least) will recognize the EA part. It is akin to subliminal messeging, which is used by every commercial and form of advertisement. They deserve a nod in recognition in terms of "it is very cool you're fitting your logo with the theme rather than the inverse" than completely liking them just for their diverse number of EA Badges.

Blacqout is not a troll, there is a distinct difference between a true troll thread and a thread where the OP voices their opinion that happens to be of the minority. I've moderated and administrated enough forums to know this by now and you all should have read enough of the idiotic troll threads to know as well as I do what a TRUE troll thread is.

You're being irrational.

This is an internet forum, the whole point of which is to discuss things. If you post something that i disagree with, why exactly is it so bad for me to politely explain why i disagree?

That is, after all, what you have been doin in regards to my opinions on EA... only far less politely.

You're being irrational.

Preferring ME2's "iconic" approach to squadmate design over ME1s bland armour, doesn't make me a "troll". In fact, your insistence on propagating this myth suggests that you are a troll.

Ah Bablie. You always seem to be involved when this forum files false trolling charges against me.

The fact is i have been perfectly civil to everyone in this thread, even when they haven't shown me the same courtesy. By all means, disagree with my assessment, but do so intelligently and without having to resort to such lowbrow tactics as accusations of trolling... because as it stands, you are actively disrupting my topic.

Back when I started playing games, EA's logo was a square, a ball and a triangle. That was back when you knew you were in for a game that were 'up there'.

Maybe they should have stuck to that logo, since their quality certainly have gone down since then.

For those that don't know the logo I am talking about:

You also seem to constantly resort to posting off-topic images and use simple internet catchphrases... presumably as a substitute for having anything meaningful to add to a conversation.

If you have something to say on the topic, great. If you don't, i request that you vacate my discussion with minimal fuss. Thanks.

AlucidMind managed it, but he does seem significantly smarter than you.

Just as an FYI, i've reported you.

I have shown a Jesus-like restraint p until now, but enough is enough. Your constant, baseless claims are doing far more to disrupt the harmony in this forum than i am. I have been nothing but polite in giving my opinions, unlike you.

If you lack the intellect to contribute to my discussion in a meaningful way, then simply don't contribute.

If Mass Effect 3 is good the spotlight will be on BioWare.
If Mass Effect 3 is a letdown the spotlight will be on EA.

Never tried battlefield, and my experiences with 'hostile pc interface' from DS 1 didn't exactly leave me wanting to try out DS2. From what I heard, they left pc users in the gutter even more with DS2, so I sincerely hope you don't think DS2 is in any way an indication that EA is decent quality for the user by pointing out a game where users have been directly told they wouldn't get updates to their game, or fixed known issues in it?

Electronic Arts is cool. I don't understand why some blame DA2 on EA when they are just PUBLISHERS, not DEVELOPERS like BIOWARE.

EA is what I call the "sugar daddy" of games, as in it has zero brains to make creative games but at least it pays the bills :P for other to do so.

which is not a bad thing mind you.

5/10. meh.
Anyway, Westwood Studios might disagree with you. And many other studios that got closed few years after EA bought them. EA´s logo really didnt helped them much :/

Has anyone else noticed that on the spine of their Mass Effect 2 case, the EA logo is inside a circle with the ME swooshy thing? Now if you go and look at Dragon Age, it's inside a blood drago. If you happen to own a Tiger Woods game, you'll see that it's inside a golf ball.

A lot of posters on this forum like to suggest that EA are somehow a bad thing for BioWare's creativity, but that is really not the case. No other publisher puts as much effort into, or is as creative with, their logo on the game box. This really does send a strong message to me -- that EA really care about and respect the developers artistic vision.

Additionally, i keep my games on a shelf in a cupboard, and when i browse them, the Mass Effect spine really sticks out because of this. So the next time you want to complain about EA, maybe weigh up the positives against the negatives before doing so.

If anyone is going to publish for BioWare, i'm glad it's Electronic Arts.

Heh, when they're done with the logo all the creativity is probably spent.

I think it's actually them trying to identify with the property and say it's theirs... as opposed to it being about BioWare or anything, which are now just part of their RPG Division.

When thinking back on the c64, I think the game I liked the most from back then was actually published by Electronic Arts: Racing Destruction Set.

Good times...

Lol. just glanced at the wiki for AE. Even the wiki notes that quality have degraded (and the quote is even refering to stuff from back in 2006):

EA's aggregate review performance had shown a downward trend in quality
over recent years and was expected to affect market shares during
competitive seasons. Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson had
said, "Poor reviews and quality are beginning to tarnish the EA brand.
According to our ongoing survey of GameRankings.com aggregated review
data, Electronic Arts' overall game quality continues to fall...Although
market share has not declined dramatically to date, in years such as
2007, which promises to have tremendous competition, it seems likely if
quality does not improve."[59][60]
