Other moments is when The Chantry got destroyed and Sebastian fell on his knees crying "No Elthina no!" i didn't even like the guy that much but you could feel his pain
XD
and the part fighting for Fenris when Danarius was trying to get ahold of him

If I were Hawke I'd be a bawling mess.
I have to say it was a bit of an odd feeling see the Chantry be blown up, the Grand Cleric did very little publicly and then for her to be eliminated by Anders messed up idea (IMO) was shocking.

The questioning beliefs conversations in Acts II and III with Isabela.
The boy running away from Merrill and dying along with her reaction. Later, the Keeper's death.
Hawke's mom's death.
Talking to Carver about the templar he was named after.
Hearing the explanation of the magistrate's son in Magistrate's Orders. (My lady Hawke didn't feel the happy or sympathetic kind of emotion here.)
The Keeper's arrival at the alienage.

And the worst part was, I had a weird game glitch following that which caused the encounter to repeat every time I went back to the Hanged Man! I had to send the poor blighter to his fate about 5 times. It felt somewhat karmic...

Anders was not that very striking I thought, perhaps because I had some spoilers and I did not appreciate the character. An independant mage is fine, a raving terrorist isn't.

The most emotional moment for me (knot in the stomach not tears to the eyes) was after Hawke (mage) got down and dirty with Fenris he runs off emotionally shattered. I had thought if I pursued him he'd come around and accept that mages weren't so bad. This backfired, instead I realized Hawke was just as painfully flawed as everyone else. Just like Merrill and Anders broke the things they wanted to fix so too did my Hawke.
I also got a great real life emotional moment out of this game. Basically my eldest brother was visiting and said something to the effect of 'I don't care if my siblings hate me so long as I stick to my principals'. I always knew this kind of thinking was possibly selfish and stupid but until this game shoved it in my face I had never really though about it as dangerous.

-When Hawke's mother died.
-When Sandal said he wanted to go home.
-Leliana cameo, even tho she didn't recognize my warden's romance (hopefully BW will fix that soon) =)

I agree, that moment between Hawk and Bodahn seemed oddly poignant. Bodahn tells master Hawk that he is getting older and he needs to provide for Sandal while he is still able, and as a consequence it will soon be time for them to move on to Orlais. It clearly denotes the passage of time within the game and the inevitable change that will come from it, and I felt a deep sense of regret as a result.gamestress wrote...
When Bodahn told me he and Sandal would be moving on soon for a position in Orlais. The house is going to be so empty without them!

Bodahn talking about Sandal that first time in the Hawke estate, and then Sandal says "I like Bodahn!". Their relationship is so incredibly sweet.
And Gamlen after you find his greatest treasure turning around to you and saying "yeah, well... you still should stay out of my bloody business!" (paraphrasing, sorry). I had the hugest grin on my face at that point. You're welcome, Mr-I-don't-actually-hate-Hawke.

Me: (momentary losing the spotlight) Oh, Madame Heroine is having her moment of heroic sacrifice. Well, I'd hate to interfere with other people's dreams. Let me just sidestep them carefully - wait, what, you mean I HAVE to interfere? Can't we just wait until the darkspawn eats them - wait! Where are you all running to!
Wesley: The Order dictates.
Hawke: (steps in front of him and frowns impressively)
Me: You show him, Hawke! Shove his Order! Ah, but carefully, don't actually shove him, or he might collapse. Look at him, so determined to do his duty while barely standing...It's admirable. I think I could corrupt him from, in time. May I have him instead of Aveline?
Mother: I don't want a hero, I want my child.
Me: ...I AM your child.
Mother: You I understand wanting to do this. But leave your brother out of this, I beg you.
Me: Mother, there's something I've been meaning to ask you for a while. I'm not actually your child, am I? It was an adoption potion, or something?
Hawke: Well, at least father will have company now.
Me: (laughing) You insensitive jerk, find some tragedy in watching your sibling die for the fifth time!
Varric: The witch kept her promise...
Me: Wait. Wait! You're narrating already? What about showing the story? That was an unpleasant jolt. Looks like it's going to be over fast.
Varric: The champion made a name in the shadowy parts of the city...
Me: WAIT. Already??! I thought I was going to play through that year! Looks like it's going to be over VERY fast.
Anders: I have made this place a sanctum of healing and salvation. Why do you threaten it?
Hawke: (stares)
Me: I'm sorry, did I step on your altar? Should I offer a sacrifice at the entrance or - what is it? (turns to look at Hawke)
Hawke: (stares at Anders) (is very impressed)
Me: Okay. Looks like we found the first interesting character.
To be continued!

You're not the only one. In my first game, Carver died and I took Bethany into the Deep Roads without Anders (I always play through the first time unspoiled), so she died. So when Mama Hawke then died, I rolled my eyes and thought, "Enough already! Can't they come up with anything else?" And I've rolled my eyes on every play through since then. Does nothing for me emotionally.Loain wrote...
I can't be the only one but Momma Hawke kicking it didn't phase me one bit.
The most emotional moment for me was on another play through when Bethany becomes a Grey Warden and Hawke runs into her for the first time later on.

* Anders asking for the Sela Petrae and Drake Stone.
Me: I know enough history and latin to know that saltpeter and sulfur don't equal potion
My mage: I hang out with 3 rogues, I know those ingredients = explosive tell me what you are planning!!
My rogue: I know those ingredients = explosive, tell me what you are planning!
*The moment that you realize helping Merril means you have to essentially kill off her whole tribe. I actually got teary as the last elf fell, then Merril comes out with a quip about elves and living on mountains or something and I'm like "Are you INSANE???"
*When Anders gives Varric his pillow. For some reason that really got to me.
*the first time I heard Anders yell this: I actually accidentally TPKed my party in shock at the emotion in this battle cry.
*Anders first kiss. I was like "wow, you shouldn't leave it that long with your warden stamina... a few more weeks and you might have killed someone with that kiss!" followed by wanting to dunk my head in a bucket of iced water. Wow that kiss...

When you click on Fenris (if in a romance with him) and he says "I'm yours." It just makes me want to stop what I'm doing and drag him off to the bedroom.
Note to Bioware: It was great fun to be able to kiss Alistair whenever I wanted in Origins. Please make the same thing happen for DA3. Edit- I mean with whichever love interest I'm involved with, not Alistair.
Daaaw, you don't wanna see Ali eviscerated by Fenris if you bound off and snog Alistair in front of him after every fight??
I agree though, please bring back the more interactive, personalised dialogue. I miss being able to talk to my companions whenever I want!!!

Anders blowing up the chantry was totally shocking. I find it impossible to see his character the same way afterwards, even when I'm evaluating his earlier actions. It's like blowing up the chantry has totally contaminated his character for me. I romanced Fenris on my first playthrough, intending to go for Anders next time, but I now find I can't do it.

I use to find this a bit...over the top...but now, it kind of pulls at my heart strings. Because if you get to know him, you realize, that's all the family he really had and now they are all gone.

When I found out Isabela was more or less the cause of the Qunari mess and had kept quiet about it all those years and when Anders blew up the chantry. Both of those moments had me pausing the game while I just sat there slack jawed and processing what had just happened. Then I actually started yelling at those two for being idiots... which led everyone in my house at those times to believe I was an idiot for ranting at my tv.
