 Hi all,

Well unfortuantly I've hit my first major persistant bug, after steam auto patched the 1.01 update onto my system, what appears to happen is that the central portion of the text does not show up in game, on menus, nor in the leveling area. It does however still show up on the loading section and in the footer at the bottom of the main menu.

Its hard to describe thus I have included screenshots to illustrait below:

Main Menu (My email omitted) -

Pause Menu -

Save management area (The anomaly) -

The skills web, notehow the descriptive text to the right is missing entirely -http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo86/Shinyspics/2011-03-30_00006.jpg

Note how when hovered over the area lights up where the text should be,
I have done some quick searching but nothnig even related to this problem has surfaced thus far as I can see, unless I am describing it too differently from others. I have also updated my graphics card drivers but to no avail

I can provide system specs if they are required but I can assure you all I completed the game once through with no such problem as this.

Thank you for your time and I hope you guys can help me out!
- Shiny

Edit:
Just realised some specs might be a good starting point, Running a 9800GT on Windows XP Home (5.1, Build 2600) I am running on DX9 as a result.

Had one other report of this and the user simply reinstalled and it seemed to fix things. If you're on steam try verifying the files. We're looking in to the cause of this issue.

Thanks for getting back so fast, just validated, of which steam reported 798 failed to validate and are currently being re-acquired. I'll give it another boot when its finished downloading.

Cheers again - Shiny

And It appears fixed!, I've closed and reopened just to be doubly sure and everything seems to be in order. Thanks once again Luke that little bit of advice saved a good portion of my evening and allot of my download allowance!

(Apologies for the double post but its seemed apropriate with the updated news)

Glad I could help. If it does happen again, please let me know - as I said I've seen one other case of this so it doesn't seem to be a widespread issue but it's good to stay on top of issues, regardless of how unlikely they are to occur.

I'm actually having the same problem. It seems to crop up randomly; uninstalling and reinstalling helps, but is there a permanent solution to this?

Avoid Steam would be the place that I'd start with.

Get the free copy from the EA store to replace it.

Gorath--I had a suspicion the problem was with Steam. I don't see a free copy at the EA Store though, nor a place for me to enter my CD key to verify I already own a copy of the game. Any tips on this? Would love to do as you suggested.

I think Gorath meant Origins, not the old ea store.

I was on Origins but had no luck...

However, I did find a workaround through Steam that I wanted to share. If you go to the game properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache, Steam will look through missing game files for you and download the ones you're missing. This solved my problem and only took about 2 minutes.
