Since people are discussing that characters like Wynne and Anders can be brought back to life because a spirit lives inside them (aka abomination), but why it is that all the abominations you killed along the way did not came back alive?
Wynne defintely came back alive twice in DAO but none of the abominations can do that? Granted, it is actually demons that are processing them but surely the demons would want to be more alive than the good spirits of fade? So why don't they just reanimate their host since they technically cannot be killed...
(Wynne was attacked by a fade demon in broken circle, 'died' but came back alive because of faith).... so consequently, being processed by a demon should do the same...

As I recall, Wynne only died once... and it was more that the Spirit kept her ... soul, whatever... from leaving by merging with her. Anders was a similar case. It's true that demons and spirits can reanimate corpes, or in the case of spirits, inhabit trees (Sylvans). But I always thought that demons were destroyed if they were killed after becoming abominations... or am I mistaken? Demons can die, right?

Afaik, demons that get killed go back into the fade. So it's not a life or death situation for the demon - think of the demon as a kid in the arcade, with only one coin, so the mage is his only life. If the demon ****s up, he has to wait until he gets new pocket change, but that's the only bad thing that happens for him.

Ugh... maybe my Warden shouldn't have made all those bargains with demons. I thought I could just kill them and not have to deal with them again. D'oh!

Don't worry, when have such deals ever gone wrong?

Yeah, the non-mortal quality of demons is a catch of sorts. Anders is convinced that if you kill him Justice will "be free" - or at least continue to exist in some form. Personally, I kill abominations to send the demon (or "spirit" if we are going to be hugging the rainbows about it) away from a state in which they can do major damage to my mortal brethren. If they are gone forever or not is irrelevant to me, since the immediate threat has been addressed, and I usually have a pretty busy day of other threats to manage afterwards.
I don't think Fade entities "bring people back to life" by way of some resurrection - as it seems is being discussed here - but rather can "animate" empty vessels and - in the specific case of Wynne - prevent "total death" for a period of time. Remember, the spirit was with her AT the point of death and prevented it, or "sent her back" rather than her having lain there for an hour or two and getting back up as herself.
The only way Anders isn't dead is if the devs decide to negate our choice at the end to kill him and make the canon actions of the Champion to let him live I think. Justice might be able to continue in his corpse though or "prevent" his death - but I do not think that Fade entities retain that power WHILE they are inhabiting the mortal world (Wynne's spirit stayed in the Fade and helped her from there in a place where the Veil was completely deteriorated by the uprising of the mages). If they could simply +1 life their hosts, then nothing I killed along the way would stay down long enough to let me walk off.

Speaking of spirits/demons, why hasn't anyone got a hold of an honesty spirit and started grilling it?

Another question we need to Ask is whether spirits defer from demons. Both Wynne and Anders are ostensibly possessed by spirits, while the abominations we see and kill throughout the game are demonic. I don't know if the rules are different but it's something go consider.

Imo, the spirit of faith is a clever desire demon, and justice is a clever rage demon. But that's just me

It doesn't state anywhere, that demons have to be honest, does it?

Demons don't necesarilly lie, they usually keep their bargains and so on. They're better at twisting the truth and manipulating.

Well based on that - Justice claimed to be a very angry spirit, he got out of the fade, tricked a powerful mage into letting him in, slowly took over, and started a world war, that'll likely result in lots of summonings. If he IS a ragedemon, he's definitely in for a promotion

Remember what Merril says? Spirits and demons are like good people and bad people. It's basically same kind of creature, but with different views and morality. A rage demon differs from Faith spirit like a violent punk differs from elegant old lady.highcastle wrote...

Anders is your typical abomination, but Justice decided not to mangle/twist his flesh. While a sloth demon won't hesitate to mangle his host's body just for lulz.

Wasn't there a spirit of Justice in the mage origin in DA:O? The one that gave your mage a staff?

I'd rather make a deal with a Demon than the Qunari, demons are more honest.

Valor was the spirit in the Harrowing if I recall correctly, and he was a bit of a jerk too. I remember being able to goad him about the valor gained by defeating a helpless mage such as myself and him being very gruff in his reply. I'd say he was less a "good" Fade entity and more of a "neutral" / "I don't care" entity.

About the body mangling, doesn't turning your host's body into a meatball with legs sort of defeat the purpose of abominations?
Surely it's better to pretend to be human as long as possible? Or is it involuntary?

Demon is like a child playing with a kitten. Only demon can prevent eviscerated and broken kitten from dying. The Angry One wrote...

I'd say it's a kind of "two much power for this frail body" thing, that happens at some point unless you're possessing the hulk, or the demon is a pansy.

A lot of them try to keep human form if they are subtle like Desire demons or Pride demons - but Rage demons and such tend to just go for the glory, as it were, and burn out fast because of it - which might be why the Chantry considers Pride and Desire demons more dangerous (codex entries, DAO).
I also think we see a lot of twisted forms because we're there, calling them out to battle more often then not, and they need to take a more powerful form to try to survive us, as the person about to kill them.

so demons are not the same as spirits even though both belongs to the Fade...
