Isn't part of the amusement from those "reviews" how he slams games? All games, even the great ones like DA2.

I see what you did there ~

& No, he often says he likes game, the point is that he is frank and direct, and normally funny, all while doing it at high speeds with zero punctuation.

& he likes to bash games he doesn't like, as with DA2.

Check reviews like Minecraft, and you'll see love. lots of love, and skull fortresses.

Yes, its not about burning down all games at all, or his favorite game last year was Just Cause 2 if I remember it correcly, and while he picked on many of the negatives, it was largely a positive review.

I just watched that review. HYSTERICAL!!!!!! "He was equally as brutal with DAO?" Hardly. Watch the review and LISTEN to what he is actually saying. He had many positives things to say about one, while virtually crucifying the other.

In the end, it really doesn't matter. They both speak for themselves. Like or loathe. I will say this: I don't loathe DA2 thanks to mods, but does anyone honestly think DA2 will win 50 awards including PC Game Of The Year and RPG Of The Year? Anything is possible, but I doubt it.

Considering his video review of Dragon Age: Origins wasn't very flattering either, I'm guessing he's not a fan of this particular series.

I don't know what video you watched, but in the one I watched he indicated he did actually enjoy origins.

I love the quote during the credits:
"There's only like three dragons in the whole game anyway, they should have called it Racism Age."

I don't care if he's a real reviewer or not, I love Zero Punctuation

as well as for the wired review:
well its kindof cheap to review several weeks after launch and having seen the discrepancy between the professional reviews and the user reviews.... crawling from their holes now
=> if they would have tested before release it would have been noteworthy

i find these "late" revievs more "bought" than others, as they aim to buy attention and please the crowd sorry.

Yahtzee reviews every game exactly like this. I can guarantee you, the review could have come out before release or shortly after release and it would have been the same. As a matter of fact, if it came out earlier, it likely would have been harsher, judging from his other reviews.

I doubt anyone can buy Yahtzee because he makes no secret that his reviews are meant to be entertaining. I doubt he's expecting people to look at his reviews and use them for purchasing decisions. They're just for fun, even if he's spot on damn near all the time.

I watch his review of EVE Online, DAO, and ME2 every now and then because they rule. I'll have to stream this on the way home.

As opposed to early reviews that act as part of the marketing for a game?

Sadly, I agree with his review. the only up-side is they got better with making your choice of companions actually meaningful. Unique interrupts, and occasional comments.

Unless you can get a review out to coincide with the release you're pandering to the masses? Sure, okay...

Total nonsense.

As expected, it's not pretty.

But it's still laugh-out-loud hilarious. (And this coming from a guy who loves the game)

Considering his video review of Dragon Age: Origins wasn't very flattering either, I'm guessing he's not a fan of this particular series.

EDIT: I know Yahtzee's a comedy reviewer and the whole point of his reviews are to slam games, even if occasionally he falls in love with a game, it's probably not the game most people play. The purpose of this thread IS NOT TO START A WAR BETWEEN THOSE WHO LIKE IT AND THOSE WHO DON'T. That's irrelevant. This is a funny review from a funny guy.

the origins review was one of his more positive ones. you can't expect a whole lot better from yahtzee than 'if you like fantasy RPG's, then Dragon Age: Origins is about as definitive as they can get'.

Just as nonsensical as the 9 and 10 reviews DA2 has gotten from "professional" reviewers.
