(I'm not sure whether it's ok to post about Origins in here or not.)

I posit that Dragon Age Origins was the definitive modern computer game, and will never be surpassed. It fully utilized technology for art in the best ways, and utilized traditional tropes in an appropriate and energetic way.

It was great, but not perfect. I have yet to see the PERFECT game.

The title was a bit superlative, but I mean that Dragon Age was as perfect as any video game could be, given the constraints available at the time.

It wasn't even that. Bioware's strength has always been characterization and story. But they lack Bethseda's skill at crafting beautiful open worlds to play in. But they fail at connecting people to those worlds emotionally. The worlds meant nothing without companions to share it with. The truly perfect computer RPG would meld both those things together.

Hasn't happened yet.

(Edit: While we're there It would also need to include multiple ways through any given situation. Like Fallout does)

DA:O with an open world and NWN-style multiplayer would be pretty close to perfect, IMHO.

It didn't have either of those, so for me it has to languish in the depths of simply being a "great game" ;)

Origins was far from perfect, but it was still one of the greatest games of the previous decade.

Doom 2.

Origins was great, but not perfect by any means. And i'm not just talking about bugs, that it still has.

Just, no.
Perfection, as such, is an unattainable quality. In any context.
Besides, this isn't so much a thesis you've proposed as a pile of disembodied blanket statements.
Origins had the most memorable soundtrack of the modern generation?
I think Origins had a very fine score (I especially loved the use of clarinet as a recurring theme for the elves), but I'm struggling to think of what sources you might have for drawing that conclusion.
Even if we settle for groundless assumption, surely this or this would be more prevalent in the collective consciousness, if we're talking memorability?
Point is, I'm not sure what discussion value is to be had here.

As someone who very much disliked DA2 I have to say that Vanilla Origins wasn't that great. It was hella better then DA2 but still not great on it's own.

It's with mods that Origins really shined.

Tactics are an awesome gameplay mechanic.
DA2 implemented it properly.
DA:O implemented it like a drunk trying to thread a needle while riding a motorcycle.

You shouldn't get more slots from character advancement, just like you shouldn't be unlocking camera controls from character advancement.

"You want a tactical camera? Put points in Awareness!"

Morrowind was better.

Seeing the vast expanse open to you while the haunting score slowly built up. Beautiful. Sometimes I just watched the stars and clouds while the music played, the background noises of the local wildlife providing ambiance.

DAO was not perfect, it was a very good game but had many faults, i just wish they corrected the faults in DA2 instead of changing everything.

Perfection is absolutely attainable in some contexts, but video games aren't really one of them.

DAO was a lot better than DA2, but it still had issues with combat, many bugs, and many badly designed abilities

Going to send this over to DA:O - nothing wrong with talking about DA:O here! But in relation to DA2.
