I suppose that's a way to put it. Some of the basic spells are no different than a Reaver,where you sacrifice health in order to do more damage. Don't see anything wrong with that. However the ones where you take life from other party members or take control of people definitely start going over the line to the "dark side".

At the most basic level blood magic is just using blood to power magic instead of (or in tandem with) Lyrium.
Blood gives more power than lyrium in the same amounts so blood magic is more powerful.
