Why make it mandatory for us to buy DLC to see the true ending of Dragon Age 2?

Smart marketing approach at the cost of customer relationship.

What do you mean: "... true ending..."? It ended quite nicely for me.

The true ending wont be in DLC. Look at the final DLC for ME2.

The DLC will do the same thing DAII did, just keep you hanging, and tell you the answers lay in DA3. End guess how that one will end?

It's not invented by Bioware though. Television series have been doing it for years. And then, when ratings start dropping because people had enough, they write some crappy come together of events that "explain" everything.

Unless I get to spend the last three years of Hawke ten year reign being the dread pirate Hawke, I don't think I'm interested in the "Real" end.

That cameo is rubbish anyway. If player killed her in origins , she reappears and replies in da2 that maker thought its not her time yet, there is more for her to do in this world.

As for the Leliana cameo, is there any real reason why they couldn't just use another random rogue if she died? It'd take another voice actor, but she isn't in much of the game so the voice acting isn't really a big issue...

I guess they needed to make sure this was a sequel, so by adding a few cameos here and there(i.e. Leliana), it would be justified. In my opinion, I do not feel that this is a sequel. I haven't been this disappointed with a game since GTA4.

It appears that maker approved the foursome that included Isabella, Zevran, Player and Leliana back in Origins.

Leliana's cameo in DLC? Wasnt her cameo in the main game or have i lost the point.

i totally adored the game. I have completed it twice, and yes i agree the ending was a little dissapointing in a way, we didnt really get to see or hear what happened to everyone, as we did in DA:O. The choices you made in DA2 weren't reflected in the ending, E.G. Agreeing to travel with Isabela, or running away with Anders. None of this was mentioned as it should have been.

I only craved to see more of ending becuase I grew very attached to the characters. I love these people more than the DA:O set now lol, and wanted to see what happened to them.

BUT for me, I do like a game that keeps you hanging on, it leaves a door open for YOUR imagination. I completed the game, the first time, around 1am, and went to bed thinking of what could have happened to everyone. Image IPB

I liked Leliana's cameo at the end, it was nice to see her again and I hope she is going to be seen much more in future.

You didn't like it being open-ended? Too bad - it's not a play for money in my opinion. It ended with the world transformed, and that's a "true" ending as far as I'm concerned. I'm just going with this being your ten millionth thread trying to find something to pick at.

I was thinking more DA3 than DLC, I guess it depends on if they get the go ahead to make another game after this.

You HAVE to be critical if you want something changed. I wouldn't say that if only a few people agreed with me, but A LOT of people agree with me. If you want something better? Argue for it! I know making hundreds of threads isn't the best way, but hopefully the point gets across in the end.

I actually didn't mind the very end. What I didn't like was the half an hour before it when I discovered that it doesn't actually make a difference what choice you make as things always end in almost exactly the same way. I did not expect everything involving Anders, Orsino and Meredith to be identical regardless of what my decisions were, that was laziness and a terrible design choice by Bioware.

I enjoyed the final part with Varric telling the story, but it would have been nice if there was more to it based upon our illusions "decisions", rather than it being some vague "And so the adventure continues" plot.

Do you mean how 'Witch Hunt' was "mandatory" in DA:O to find out what happened to Morrigan ?  Oh I see B)

Dragon Age 2 is a product. It was designed to make money. It wasn't made because BioWare had this amazing idea for a story it wanted to share with the world. And this saddens me because in all aspects of the game it seems like not a single f**k was given throughout development.

You're not being critical. Being critical would actually involve you describing the issue you have with the ending in detail and saying why you think it didn't work, etc. That's certainly not what I got out of your post.
