After beating DA2 once and replaying it a second time, I reached the point where you return to Sister Patrice after she set you up to be killed by Qunari. At this point, I already knew her of role in the story and wanted her dead right there. Sadly, the closest option you get is "I should kill you." To which she responds "No thanks, I have stuff to do."

DA2 (and other Bioware games, but DA2 is the most obvious) relies on very linear rails and parameters to tell its story. I believe the plot, story arcs and characters rely too heavily on these rails, ultimately to a detriment.

I would love nothing more than for Bioware to abandon these rails and try making a sandbox game where story arcs and the world reacts and adapts to the choices of the player. Giving the player the freedom to choose to interact with an NPC, or to kill an NPC and sacrifice that NPC's quests/plot is the ultimate consequence.

Would you be interested in a Dragon Age sandbox?

I would, even if it may weaken storylines.

Unfortunately, sandbox games are now limited to sports titles...
