For my final ME2 playthrough with my Renegade Soldier on NG+ Insanity I'm looking for ways to maximize Damage Output as far as possible.

I thought about 2 different playstyles:

Revenant+Inferno Ammo+Hardened AR

Advanced Training: Reave? Energy Drain?

Or:

Mattock+Inferno Ammo+Heightened AR

Advanced Training: Warp Ammo? Reave? Energy Drain?

I have Heavy Disruptor Ammo as well as Commando.

I'm thinking about taking Miranda and Garrus as Squadmates, Garrus providing Armor Piercing Ammo for Miranda.

Any advice?

Mattock + He AR is the highest DPS in the game. By far. If you want the theoretical max DPS you'd use Geth Shield Boost as your bonus power for +10% damage. However you'd only be getting max DPS vs shields or synthetics (disruptor) or vs armor (inferno ammo applying instantly). Inferno ammo vs health, things will die too fast for the DoT to even matter.

I like the survival and +10% dmg of Geth Shield Boost, but if you want max damage in all situations you can't go wrong with Warp Ammo.

As far as I know, maximum damage output is either a Stasis bug Widow headshot or a close ranged charged GPS shot. Obviously that will overkill almost every enemy (affected by stasis) other than Scions and YMIR mechs.

The Mattock is great, matched with the Widow, Phalanx and GPS, but every shot has to count to cut down on wasted shots and the loadout could get tricky to use in very few fights, like the Object Rho fight in particular.

The Revvy is another option for max damage and it works best with Hardened AR.

So I'd guess the key powers for max damage are:

Heightened AR -|- Hardened with Revvy
Commando (15% to power damage and 15% to weapon damage)

Inferno and Heavy Disruptor -|- Heavy Disruptor and Heavy Warp ammo -|- Tungsten and Heavy Disruptor

So you could also take and fully evolve Reave if you stick with Inferno and Heavy Disruptor, but Improved GSB gives that extra 10% to weapon damage also.

Here's a calculator you can use: http://mass-relay.co...ents/calculator

Armor pieces also provide a minor bonus. So you could go with:
Recon Hood or Kestrel Helmet
Kestrel Torso Sheath
N7 Shoulder Guards or Amplifier Plates
Stabilization Gauntlets or Kestrel Arm Sheathing

The leg pieces would be your preference, with Stimulator Conduits, Ordinance Pack and Kestrel Power Pack as the most tempting to go with.

Just tested Mattock+Heightened+GSB on the first part of Overlord on Insanity.

Total cakewalk. GSB makes for an interesting, aggressive playstyle that suits me a lot, because of it's similarity to my Shock Trooper Soldier in the first game. Running around guns blazing is exactly what i liked on my soldier, despite it being absurdly overpowered with Immunity.

Do the Amplifier Plates increase GSB extra damage?

I gave up GSB for Warp Ammo, since Hardened/Heightened Adrenaline Rush + Armor upgrades + Shielding upgrades + Health upgrades + Damage upgrades take care of all the combat-related problems you might encounter throughout the game.

Additionally, I find it more rewarding to "play smart" than to use GSB prior to entering a battle or in a tough situation that demands aggression. With Warp Ammo added to the duo of Inferno and Disrupter ammo, you can pop the barriers, shields, armor, and health of all enemies alike.

Facing Eclipse or Collectors? Get into cover and slap on Warp ammo.
Facing weak enemies? Activate Inferno ammo.
Facing Mechs and Mercs? Get into cover and flush them out with Disrupter ammo.

Indubitably, having more ammo types makes for a more fluid, efficient, and responsive gameplay that simultaneously lets you conserve ammo and deal the maximum damage possible.

But that will not save you against the Reapers...do not resist the inevitable!
