How do you use these abilities effectively?

Whenever I place them around a group of enemies or a party member they don't seem to have any real effect. It's probably just a 'lrn2play' problem. How do they work exactly?

I'm playing on the PS3 if that has any effects on it.

Thanks for any help.

You have to target a party member with armistice/goad.

However, I think I read a while back that both of those abilities are broken for PS3 until the patch hits.

Almost everyone seems to be confused about how armistice and goad works, either they don't know exactly what it does, or how to use it/who to use it on/where to place the reticule.

I don't know if it's bugged on the PS3, what I do know is that it needs a better and more clear talent description in-game (like alot of the talents in the game).

Both of these skills currently do nothing on the console versions due to a bug in the targeting mechanic. It will be addressed in Patch 1

On PC they worked really well. So... overall... DA is still better on the PC :P.

Ha, now I don't feel so bad about ignoring them.

I remember someone saying that they don't work if activated manually, but that they do work if a party member uses them on their own as part of a tactics routine. Dunno if it's true, but it's something to try.

360 version here
Not sure if armistice works, but I have Varric's tactics set to use goad on my warrior hawke. Varric uses Goad on my warrior, only the mobs within a 6m radius around hawke will then start attacking him. Upgraded Goad is 10m
I can only speak for myself but I have seen the skill work. Due to the rather small area of effect, however, I have been unable to find an effective way to represent this in the tactics without having goad wasted while im running to another mob or what have you.

I must say tho I havn't tried very hard because I havnt found threat to be a real problem yet and the way I do have it set seems to just barely do the job. I might take another look at it if I notice my party dying due to threat but for now it will suffice.

On Tactics, it works. If YOU use it manually, it doesn't.

Well, just because DA2 WORKS better on PC, does not necessarily mean it is BETTER on the PC. ;-)
