Replaying this game after a long absence exclusively with some party members online.
They are playing a:
Sorceror or Wizard
Warlock
Druid
I'm a power/gamer munchkin at heart (but I can make any character into a good 'roleplay possibility) my initial thought was to make some sort of swashbuckler/rogue combo (with perhaps shadowdancer or assassin levels to get hide in plain sight). Having no real melee (Apart from the druid's ability to shapeshift) though, this seems like it may be too 'squishy' a combo.
With a 4 player party do the companions from single player still come with you ? (meaning if I didnt play a rogue, we could bring one) if so - what would be a good option for a durable melee to fill out this party?

Maybe ranger. Along with his/her own melee ability you would also have two animal companions (ranger & druid) and possibly a summoned creature (from the wizard). If the ranger's animal companion is the panther or bear and the druid's is a dinosaur I would think you would have melee covered pretty well. At least for lower levels.

I been wondering about this, cause I got an old friend thinking of picking up the game so that we can play the OC and other player modules from our house. Though it would work a little better with the Campanions since it will only be two of us and not a full party.
