However, betraying your own people and aligning with foreign interests does make you a traitor to your own people which is exactly what some paragon Shepards do because they have a naive view on foreign policy. Foreign policy is always based on self-interest.

I have to say that this view makes no sense to me. I live in the UK and if I used your reasoning then it would be fine to kill everyone not in the UK because then we'd have more land which would be better for us.

In what way and why should the British care anyway? The rest of world should only concern them in so far as it effects them. If that "****ed over" aspect doesn't hurt Britain then it isn't anything they need to worry about.
