Okay I tried it with a gibbed save - I'm assuming that's enough. The initial dialogue with Anders is the same. Recruiting him must be canon. I only had the first conversation with him though - he may give more information later.

"Dead" Anders is explained if you meet Nathaniel Howe in the Deep Roads.

The only situation in which "dead" Anders isn't explained is if you execute him instead of recruit him.  But presumably, Anders just fakes his death there too.

Darn plot armor.  Or Pokemon works too - haha

geez, Anders. what a trickster.

"What a backstabber" is more like it. He claims these people are his friends and then just leaves them to die. He's a deserter... good grief, I didn't think I could dislike him more.

It kind of makes you wonder why Justice sought him out. Where's the justice in saving your own skin while leaving your friends to die?

Justice didn't seek him out. When Kristoff's body got too crusty even for Justice to move about, that's when Anders volunteered for... posession, I guess we'll call it.

But didn't Anders say he left the Keep? And it took a while (I don't know, at least a day?) before Kristoff's body got too "crusty." That's why I said sought. Oh I don't know, nothing makes sense now <_<

At least this one is acknowledged. Zombie Leliana is still a mystery.

I think it is easy to understand. If you killed her along side Wynne, she probably pulled that spirit trick on her and raised Leliana as well.

If not Leliana, most religious companion of DA:O killed in Andraste's resting place which she loved greatly. Maybe Andraste/Maker did it. You believe a corny spirit/demon saved Anders but defy the will of the Maker? Shame on you. Posted Image

Edit: Also I wonder how Anders become a Warden. I kicked his butt to be executed by Templars (without saying show that horrible murder of templars' defense even he came back to help me kill that talking darkspawn), even made sure I imported that save but still he is a Warden. Warden's have enough problem without a terrorist on their ranks. Posted Image

please tell me once you did that... but I guess being sent back to the Templars do not equate death but still, how he got to know Justice? [/quote]

In this case in Awakenings, going back to the Templars is death.  They were going to kill him because they accused him of killing Templars.  Anders said he was innocent.  It's at this point when the Warden can conscript him, sparing his life.

The point is the devs explain in game how Anders survives if he "died" at Vigil's Keep via Nathaniel. They do not explain anywhere in the game why Leliana is still alive.

BTW, I did not kill her.  That's too evil.  I'm just going off what others have said, that she returns with no explanation.

[Edit] Apparently there are VA files for a dead Leliana, but they don't seem to be tripped.  Maybe a bug.  These files seem more for if the Warden didn't recruit Leliana in Lothering, though.

What I can't get over is even if you kill Leliana on that mountain and somehow she still becomes Sister Nightangale. Explain that one, Bioware.

Well, that would certainly explain why she went back to Orlais to serve the Divine.Posted Image

Don't waste your time just to see what happens. There is nothing, since I finished a playthrough on that kind of safe. It still says that Warden-Commander recruited Anders, and that they were friends, and that he met Justice in Amaranthine. There is no explanation. >_<

There doesn't seem to be an explanation for a lot of things. Every choice you made in DA:O seems to have little or no effect on DA:2. Other than a couple of cutscenes and a quest here and there, and any choice you made that goes against the story is just... conviently fixed, somehow. Fail.

Thanks for the  info :)  I assume the forshadowing meant they'd planned Anders in DA2, makes one wonder why they even offered the choice of not recruiting him if was going to be canon.  Oh well, add it to the mysteries of game development I suppose.
