Bioware points, or : making honesty way harder than theft

So, i'm pretty this topic will not have much use, since after so many complains on the forum, no change was made on this system, and it's surely not that one topic which will make things change, but still...

I bought ME2 from steam. It was easily done, and easily played :
 - check in the product,
 - use your credit card to pay in real money,
 - download the game,
 - enjoy.
A lot easier and safer than to download a cracked version from the internet.

I bought a couple of DLC for ME2 as well (not all those i want yet, more on this later)
 - Create a Bioware account
 - Create a EA account as well
 - use your credit card to buy points, by definite quantities (so that points we won't use
are still a bit of money you earn?)
 - doesn't work, try again.
 - still doesn't work, make some search.
 - find out that for some people and / or methods (rather randomly defined) it just won't work.
 - consider what that means.
 - try to ask other people to help you buying points.
 - cool, one of your friend's paypal work!
 - buy DLC using points.
 - shed a tear on the points that won't be used.
 - smile because you're still lucky to get the DLC after buying it
(some did not get such a good deal)
 - download DLC
 - run the exe
 - enjoy!

Now you just have to buy points again since the highest quantity of points you can buy at once is not enough to buy all the DLCs you want to buy. Be strong (especially since the second time, bioware suddenly refuses to use your friend's paypal...)

That was a lot of things but easy and simple. At least, not as simple as downloading them illegaly from somewhere.

- Why is it not possible to buy and download DLCs from steam, simply?
- Why can't we buy them with real money and have to use points instead?
- Why can't we process more than 1 point package at a time (i would have enjoyed being able to buy 1600+360 points together...)
- Why make life so hard on people who want to be honest? Fighting piracy can go through implementing a lot a anti cracking devices to make life hard on honest people, or though more interesting things. Fighting piracy can also be done by avoiding all the unnecessary and complex (and not working) steps which make the potential customer give up on trying.

I'm pretty sure you all already considered this, and you had good reasons to avoid doing this process easy, simple and everything. But i think if there's an explanation about it available somewhere, i would very much like to hear / read it.

It is especially bad since it's only annoying to people who want to be honest.

Right now, i need 880 points. So i"m trying to buy 1600, because i still love the ME series of games, and i'm sure there will be overly expensive and very shorts DLCs for ME3 that i will buy (if i can...) as well. My cards don't work. My brother's card doesn't work. My friend's paypal doesn't work. What now except illegal download?

This.

I was trying to buy 400 points a few minutes ago and all I can say is... it seems like they dont want my money. Three times in a row no success. Not to mention the thing 4 weeks or so ago. Had to contact support just to get my points after several unsuccessful tries but one where my money was taken - without receiving anything from their end.

But whatever, they prolly make more money by not giving us the option to buy exactly the amount of points we want or by paying directly for the DLC. Not that it would be easier for them and us, because there would be less actions to be taken to get the final product. Not that it would be more comfortable for the user.

It cannot be that it is way easier to take a boat into the bay and give that a go than to buy some damn points from the shop. And it is not like people were not be able to buy points since yesterday...

If BioWare would at least say or admit that there is a problem atm and that they are working on it, but nooo, nothing. Anyway, I'll continue to try to get my points. So long...

To purchase DLC for a console, you have to access that particular console's store (For example, in your case you would need to go to the Playstation Store, Xbox 360 users would need to go to the Xbox Marketplace).

The content for consoles does not use BioWare points, but the respective currency of that console (Microsoft Points or money stored in your Playstation account.)

Seriously, what's the go Bioware? I was trying to buy the arrival DLC for Mass Effect 2, and it took about 1 hour to find the section of your website that allowed me to do it. Your google page ranking is terribly low and no amount of searching brought up the correct link. The only way to eventually find it was through a miniscule icon on the mass effect 3 page. I'm usually very quick at finding what I need, but finding the ME2 DLC download page was virtually impossible.
As for buying the points, it has never ever gone through smoothly, not once. And I have DAO, DAII, ME1 and ME2, with All DLC which means I've tried this many times. Every time I've had to revert to Paypal and use a foreign credit card or contact EA who have been kind enough to give me the points for free or add the DLC for free after they see the problems I have gone through.
The process is WAY to convoluted, and there's too many things that trip up the transaction. In my case, I used to live in Australia, and my bioware account was created there. Now I live in Vietnam, and that causes all sorts of havoc, meaning that I have not once been able to make a successful purchase using my Vietnamese credit cards. I've never encountered such a poor payment system.
Don't you want our money? Help us help you.
Fix your payment system
Make the purchasing process way more streamlined. It's a disaster now.
Either ditch the points, or allow purchase of more points, so we can get loads at once and not have to deal with it.
Improve your google page rank.

If you are having issues purchasing through the BioWare Store, you can purchase BioWare points from the Origin Store.

Currently, there are 2 packages available.
800 BioWare Points for $10 USD
1600 BioWare Points for $20 USD

Here's a link to the store: http://store.origin.com

This s driving me insane. I tried to go to the Origin store and used the new app as well but neither will allow me to switch it to English. I have tried countless times to use my card, why the heck wont it work?

I pulled up your account and your recent transaction history. From the information on your account, you should be able to view the store and application in English. Are you in the US/Canada?

I did notice that the most recent attempt to purchase BioWare points with PayPal has failed before authorization. There are many retailers within the US that sell EA Game Cards, which can be used (within the United States) to purchase items from the Origin Store.

There is no tech support on BSN. None. It's all on EA Help. For Self-Help discussion, that is all on Answers HQ

OMGOMGOMG IT WORKED!!! I was screwing around with the DLC buyer (I kept getting opps page not available crap) and I look today and I got the Firepower Pack!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!! And it only took the amount of points it was supposed to!!!!!

EDIT: What in the dickens? I keep getting opps page not available when i try to purchase a DLC but when I go to my game content page, it shows up and the correct amount of points are deducted. For you guys out there, go the the help.ea stuff and get a live chat. Mine took less than 3 minutes for someone to answer. When what they suggested didn't fix my problem, they said that some technical specialist would sent me an email. They never did but now I can buy DLCs. YAY!!!
