Discobird, one question on the stat split for damage bonuses.
I understand the calc to be (dex * 0.425) + (str/cun * 0.425), whereas before the dex fix it was (str * 0.85).
Does this mean that (ALL other considerations aside, such as attack/defense/critical/armor penetration/etc) the following would provide equal attribute bonuses:
90 str/cun - 10 dex
50 str/cun - 50 dex
10 str/cun - 90 dex
?
Yup

If momentum and haste do not stack why even bother getting it in most standard groups unless your respecing all you melee to use momentum then it makes sense i guess otherwise i do not get it. It is almost definitely a dps loss to use momentum for yourself and no haste for the rest of the group. It is a pretty large investment especially since flurry is most definitely not worth it and dual weapon sweep is pretty situational.
I think there are two responses to this:
1) This post is about maxing the rogue as a single character, not trying to max the party's dps. Also, it takes a long time w/out a respec mod to obtain Haste from a non-PC mage...
2) Momentum is better than Haste as I understand it, and the effect can be maxed via a single Speed Salve. (The toolset won't allow boosts higher than .5 or somesuch, which is what Momentum plus Speed Salve gets you.)
All that said, its a good point from a late-game party perspective. I'm not sure I will take momentum next run... whenever that may be.

Why is the bonus damage from attributes multiplied by 0.375? Because, when dual-wielding, the game randomizes your attribute damage bonus to between 25-50% of its list value before throwing it in the damage calcs. This is one source of random variation in damage output. Thus your expected attribute damage bonus will be only 37.5% of its list value. (For every other weapon style besides dual-wielding, the random factor is between 50-75% of list value.)
Is this done to normalize attribute bonus damage? I ask because I don't know what the base swing timer is in other styles but it would make sense that the attribute bonus is reduced because otherwise dual wield damage would scale too well with attribute bonus damage. How was this value arrived at, in game testing or direct data mining?

You might have to complete more storyline missions. Shopkeepers update their inventory as you progress through the game. A bit of Googling informed me that the general (albeit unverified) consensus is that you need to finish two main quest arcs. I can't offer any guarantees, though.swk3000 wrote...
And finally, how in the name of all that's fscking holy do you get the Felon's Coat? At level 12, I completed one storyline mission (Broken Circle), got my hands on 4 Drake Scales, and had Wade make the first Drakeskin armor, and then checked Herren's inventory figuring that he'd have the Felon's Coat. No such luck. And I know for a fact that if I bring him the 2 more Drake Scales I need for the Superior Drakeskin Armor, I won't be able to check, as Herren won't have anything to do with me.

Is 'The Wicked Oath' Ring worth using in any of these builds? Or was it not mentioned because it's a DLC item?
i am thinking it was left out because not everybody can have it. its a Steam exclusive item. it can be installed manually though.

Does DW provide better DPS than bows?
Archery provides pretty mediocre damage in Dragon Age. Though there is already mods that addresses that.
But as far as I know a dagger/dagger DW rogue does the highest single target damage in the game.

I left out Haste because I didn't want to make specific assumptions about the rest of the player's party. Same reason I don't include Flaming Weapons in the DPS figures or Heroic Offense in the attack ratings. Feel free to skip Momentum and Flurry if you know you'll have Haste in your party and you're comfortable relying on it (unless of course you want Whirlwind).

Just wondering why you don't have a Longsword/Longsword Str build? I'm wondering if the additional damage bonus from strength applied to the second longsword will make up for the slower attack speed compared to Longsword/Dagger Str?
I didn't include it because Veshialle is a substantially better offhand than any longsword. But if you want to try longsword/longsword for roleplaying or style reasons, by all means don't let me stop you. I would estimate that Starfang/Keening is about 5 points less DPS than Starfang/Veshialle.

Yeah it's very good, I only left it out because it was (at least originally) only available to Steam preorders.

Understandable. From what I've read thus far on these forums, +% backstab caps at +50%, and since I was using Rose Thorn and Red Jenny Seekers already totals to +45%, making Oath's +10% become only +5%. With that in mind, would it still be better DPS than +Attributes rings like Dusk Ring or Harvest Festival?

A level 18 character has 56 attribute points from levelups, plus 4 from tomes, for a total of 60 discretionary attribute points.
There is a tome available from Varathorn and one from Legnar. Both give 1 point. How do you get the remaining 2 points?
I care a lot about min-maxing characters, it seems I'm missing something here. If it is the tome from Haven, could someone tell me how on earth you can get anyone to sell it?

hmmm i though i read somewhere here that the 50% crit damage cap can still be increased. i might be wrong though.

I'd also like to point out that stacking paralyze runes on my OH dagger didn't seem to be very effective. What was effective was the GM paralyze rune + (Concentrated) Deathroot Extract.
