What kind of cunning/dex numbers would a hybrid cun/dex DW rogue have to maximize damage? I was wondering how a 40 cunning/rest into dex hybrid would compare to a full dex or full cun DW rogue.
Depends. Pure dmg speaking for daggers, it's the same, cun gives 0.5 dmg / point and dex 0.5 dmg / point. So having a 40 cun / 40 dex or a 60 cun / 20 dex is the same.
What isn't however is that dex gives +0.5 attack/point as well as defense meaning you will miss and get hit less often. But if you are assassin or bard, cunning is used to determine the bard's buffs or the assassin additionnal backstab dmg, and adds +0.14 armor penetration / point.
So it's you pick, if you are duellist / ranger, better go full dex, otherwise you better balance cunning and dex (you can stop raising your dex when you are over 120 attack & defense).
cunning is also used for persuasion and pick lock btw, so if your char uses them, well better go cunning too.

Ya know some people just have way to much time on there hands, what skills do i want as a dual weilding rogue? what talents? well i found a guide that says get these things and do this with dex and cunning, bingo a guide in english for those of us who just want to play and not master the games inner most workings.
Well, care to share this built then? I'm not interested in this technical mumbo jumbo and just want a good dps outputting dw rogue.

dex primary, str for secondary, not sure about skill sets. it seems right now there are like 3 different way types of sustained thief defenses , not sure which is best.

Also, 52 Dex is well worth it just for Flicker. You can use it to do wipe out an entire room of mobs in like, 2 seconds. The bad news is that Shadow drains your stamina REALLY fast, so you'll have to put a few point into willpower(or use runes just as I did).

Voice of the Velvet + 2 x Intensifying Rune + 1 x Momentum Rune
Rose's Thorn + 3 x Momentum Rune
Felon's Coat + 3 x Reservoir Rune (+15 Willpower)
Spellward
Base Wisdom
Shadow Form + Shadow Striking doesnt really drain my Stamina fast because I kill so frigging fast. All backstab kills so Feast of the Fallen works like a charm.
I also have 100% hitrate.

I found a helm that gives +6 to cunning and 20% spell resistance. Don't remember where it is though.
You can get an amulet that gives +3 to all attributes by solving the puzzle in the Wending woods
Some gloves with +8 to cunning and +4 to dexterity and other bonuses. You can loot it from those dragons in the mine(wending woods). Alternatively you can buy some other gloves from the inn merchant. I think it's +6 Dex and +15% crit.
Boots that give +3 dex, +3 cun and +6 defense. Found in a chest in the dungeon at vigils keep. Not where you get Nate, the other one.
Still haven't found anything better than Felon's Coat though.
EDIT: By the way guys. Tainted blade doesn't work in the expansion. Probably for good reason, even though it would be hilarious to see how much DPS it will give.

yeah if theres Tainted Blade CUN rouge will do ridiculous damage. im doing 200-300 normal backstab damage now. imagine if Tainted Blade multiplies that with 100+ CUN.
i also replaced my 3x GM Reservoir Runes with 3x Paragon Reservoir Runes. no need to watch stamina drain anymore.

Speaking of MoD, it can push the damage of a single backstab past the 500's
On a more related note... I was wondering what exactly does Weak Points do? Does it increase damage? If so, by how much?
Also, what's the cap for attack speed? I'm only using a single momentum rune.

I have been searching on the forum regarding where to find paragon reservoir rune tracing, and many people said that it's impossible to get. Would you let me know that if you found it by chance or if you used toolset to get it, please? Thanks.

i mean is it a better choice as compare to putting momentum rune? i always use 2 haste, does the momentum rune further increase the speed?

Posté 24 mars 2010 - 05:16
i think theres still a haste/momentum speed cap.

You can pretty much beat a High Dragon at nightmare difficulty naked in Awakening...
It's just too easy to even consider specs

Discobird already said before that theres no backstab damage cap.
Actually, according to Discobird's post, there is a backstab damage cap, it just isn't nearly as low as first thought. Base backstab damage is 150%, with the cap at 350%, so anything above +200% backstab damage is wasted. That high of a bonus was more or less impossible to reach in Origins, but in Awakening it's not difficult given Intensifying runes and the Voice of Velvet.
What I'm curious about is how much the lack of Tainted Blood affects the relative dps of the different builds. I know my CUN rogue is still kicking butt in Awakenings, but looking at Discobird's formulas, Tainted Blood is the most significant factor in the added damage of CUN builds; Exploit Weakness also contributes, but not to so great a degree. The dagger/dagger CUN build, for example, loses 18 points out of O if you take away Tainted Blood, though I'm not sure how this affects the dps numbers.
