I think it's funny how the hater's think that their opinion is somehow the same opinion as the majority. Newsflash... it's not.

Not a fanboy. and guess what... Metacritic is only about 1% of the gaming community and it's full of a-holes and trolls who spam bad reviews. Not a good argument.

If you need me to prove it to you because you are too ignorant to think for yourself then take two seconds and click on your Google search bar and type these two words exactly... Metacritic bull$4it

and actually type of the word - bull$4it - correctly without the censor evasion.

Now notice the 300,000+ search results and the first page of free thinking people completely slamming Metacritic as the 4chan of Entertainment Review sites....

Yeah, go back under your bridge troll.

Stop referencing Metacritic reviews as the gospel opinion of the gaming community as a whole.

I loved the game as well, the story and the way it was told was refreshing for me, i'm glad it didn't follow the pattern as DA:O. The one problem was cliffhangers, i'm excited to learn of what will happen to DA2 and Origin characters and just can't wait =)

To the OP, you're failing big time. The argument of the silent majority always fails, cause you don't know their opinion cause they are silent. Could be they hated the game so much the flushed it down the toilet, could be they loved it so much they married it. But you'll never know, cause they won't tell. Starting to think all you people who defend this insult to the gaming community work for BW or it's shareholders. Even if you like the gameplay (waves and such), you can still see the game is unfinished, rushed and unpolished a.k.a crap. So it would be my guess that the silent majority hate this game, which has about the same standing as your pov.

Wow, so someone posts an intelligent response to an otherwise ignorant statement by a person so blinded by their arrogance and they are trolling.... I tried to show you the "light/way/whatever" by exposing the truth about Metacritic being a garbage site for reviews and how Metacritic is NOT an accurate representation of the gaming community and suddenly I am a troll.

Go read a book fool. And good luck with that "report" I doubt that the moderators are going to agree that I was trolling. Because, just FYI, engaging in intelligent conversation IS NOT trolling. Having a different opinion... IS NOT trolling.

I liked the game alot, it's a solid 8/10 I would have said. It needs a patch for the bugs to push it up to a 9/10. I couldn't push the score higher than that though as the shocking amount of recycled areas really is hard to ignore.

I don't know if it's a majority, but I think there are probably a large number of people who silently like the game. There are exponentially more people who play games without posting about them on forums, blogging about them, writing reviews on them, than people who do, and I think they tend to fall into the middleground rather than into the "love/hate" extremes that infest the internet.

I like it but I'm really wishing they had added a new class. I know with all the skills and specializations that you can do a lot of different things but I think a new class would have added some juice.

On a major gaming site of my country the average user score is 67%, against 90% website review.
But of course, every score you do not personally like must be trolled.

I would say that's about the same for me.

Theres some great character interplay, the dialogue is probably better than Origins, especially when it includes Varric, and that was very good.

What I love is that I gave the game a 7/10, and somehow I am both a hater and a fanboi. Gotta love the extremism of the interwebs.

Of course the majority love this game and why not?  It caters to the masses and so therefore it will show in the numbers.  You have to understand that every little turd out there has call of duty and Bioware/EA is aiming for them.  I think they got a hole in one on this one.  Repetitive gameplay, explodo baddies, same maps over and over, very little customization and generic interface pretty much everything that crowd likes.

COD has about 12mil sales on Xbox360 that is just about 25% of all Xbox360 owners, assuming all sales are unique. That leaves 75% of 360 owners not playing COD. So at least for my prefered platform every little turd does not have COD.

I'd imagine quite a few of the people who dislike the game were expecting a repackaged DA:O with new locations/characters/plot but with the mechanics and world-exploring left more or less alone.

As I was reading the reviews, my expectations shifted from a true DA:O sequel to a new game, borrowing heavily from ME2, that happened to take place in Thedas. Essentially, that's what I got. If I directly compared DA2 to DA:O, yes I'd dislike it too. But when you judge DA2 as it's own game, it's not half bad.

I think Yahtzee Croshaw hit the nail on the head when he said DA2 felt like a holding pattern. It set up three things that, I think, will be the main plot drivers in DA3: The mage/templar fiasco, more antimosity towards Qunari because of the attack on Kirkwall and that mysterious thaig and talisman Hawkey found in the deep roads. It also introduces Hawke him/herself and the chantry frantically trying to locate him/her as well as the Warden.

I enjoy the game, I'm currently running through my 2nd playthrough and as a filler/stage setter between epic, world-changing events, it does a good job.

Newsflash: Metacritic averages the scores of 50+ professional critics. The fact that you obviously don't understand how Metacritic works and didn't do any research on it other than a ridiculously biased Google search isn't helping your argument. Since you obviously don't know, Metacritic offers both critic averages and user averages. Yes - the user averages could be seen as slightly biased, and I'd hope so considering the score for DA2 is at 4.3/10. However, I'd love to see you attempt to argue against how the average of 50+ critics still comes out to show that DA2 is vastly worse than DAO, is even worse than Final Fantasy XIII and is in fact Bioware's worst ever RPG.

But why state things as facts when all evidence points to the contrary? The Metacritic user score is below 5/10 - yes, it could be biased, but just because it COULD be biased doesn't immediately turn it around to being loved by the majority. The Metacritic critic score is 82/100 which is way lower than any other Bioware RPG - true, the majority could for some inexplicable reason disagree with the critics, but again, how can you say that the majority of users love the game when the only evidence out there points pretty strongly to the opposite?

@Alex: What is a "Professional Critic"?

That is almost a contradiction of words. The title of Pro Critic is as close to an oxymoron as there could ever possibly be... how about calling a horse a horse instead of a 'professional riding apparatus'.
They are paid cynics who give their highly biased opinions based on little to no actual game completion. They play a few hours, avoid as much filler and lore as possible and base their opinion of a sequel on the predecessor, which is why any deviation from the original is always met with poor reviews. And then they write about it.

If you prefer to be a mindless sheep and base your opinion on what you read about other people's opinions then more power to you... although as a mindless sheep personal power and individual thought process is lost to you since you prefer to be lead around by a rope and collar and enjoy being told what to think.

If you are lumping all reviewers as cynics that don't play games then how are they forming any opinion of first games and then using that opinion against sequels?
Some of the more recent professional critics have reviews stating that they have played the game to completion.

If you prefer to be a mindless sheep and base your opinion on what you read about other people's opinions then more power to you... although as a mindless sheep personal power and individual thought process is lost to you since you prefer to be lead around by a rope and collar and enjoy being told what to think.

The day one and pre-release reviews are for the people wanting to have their opinions formed for them.
The current batch of reviews after release are repeating various problems with the game posters here have already created thread on.
