I have a playthrough in act 3 with the bug, and would really like to finish it. It seems pc users can edit their save games using the toolset to remove the effects of the bug. Is there any way to do this on a mac?

The application that correctly reads and writes strings in the DA2 save game (pygff4 editor) uses microsoft .Net 4.0 to run. You won't be able to run this on os X natively.

The save data between versions is identical though, so you can take your latest save game (whatever.das) and edit it in a PC environment that has .Net 4.0, and pygff4. Edit the combat speed and damage resistance variables for your character back to 0 and then copy that back to your mac.

The temporary bug fix mod works on Mac as well to prevent getting it again, all that does is remove the bonus from applying to your character in the future, it won't remove the harm already done to saves afflicted with the bug.

You might have better luck uploading just your save game (zipped) to a online file host and asking someone in the thread about save game editing, to fix yours.

If you look just above this thread, you'll see an update about the upcoming patch. This is a known and major issue on all platforms so it will be fixed and most likely in that patch. You can wait, and hope that it'll be a retro-active fix or you can take the time/effort to fix the symptoms of the bug yourself. Its up to you.

I run the editor absolutely fine on my Mac with a Wine application (which in general lets you run PC applications on a Mac e.g. CrossOver or WineBottler).

You're right, which is awesome. I was mixing up system requirements with the latest DAO savegame generator which I haven't managed to run on os X.

That's nice, I didn't think of wine. Rather I've been tinkering with my own editor, but my heart hasn't really been in it. Guess this will put the nail in that coffin. :)

I'm not sure if my mage is attacking slow, or if it's just because of the lag I experience from general gameplay. Anders and Merrill seem to be attacking faster than me though, so this worries me~ I guess I really will have to get Wine set up then!

PS, does anyone know if the the Toolset works with Wine?

^ I wasn't too sure either, I just felt it was attacking slower than in Act 1. When I opened the save game editor it showed my speed modifier as -10. So it's definitely worth checking!

Alright, so I downloaded the first file at: http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files (gff4editor). I assume the program used to edit game saves is the editor.exe but that didn't work; apparently I'm missing some files. Also tried to run the daosavegame.exe but that gave me errors too.

I followed this tutorial: http://davidbaumgold...rials/wine-mac/

Edit: I installed several other windows programs I've been wanting on this machine for a while; they work fine. I'll read around and try to fix this myself.

Edit edit: Winetricks and it works! Wow I was at -80!! And only act 2! So it wasn't lag then, hahaha. Reset it to zero and presto~ I don't feel laggy anymore!

Does anyone know if the latest 1.02 Patch addresses this issue? Also, I am only just finished Act 1, and didn't get Iz until late in Act 1, so should I be concerned about this bug or is it not an issue for me? Thanks in advance.

My understandingn is it's fixed. However, if you have experienced the bug, the patch will not correct it after the fact (it will just prevent it from happening). You have to go back to an older save in order to get rid of it if you've already been hit by it. The patch does, however, prevent it from becoming worse.

Thanks again Euryipterid for the answers! Is there a post you can point me at that describes what I ought to be looking for when it comes to the bug? I know it exists, but I don't know if my Isabella is showing symptoms since I don't know exactly what happens if she is sick. Thanks!

Not sure if there's a post about it specifically, but the patch notes describe the friendship bonuses from companions as having been solved (with the caveats that I mentioned in my previous post). Basically, what happens is it makes Hawke slower and slower in battle - sometimes to the point where you can only swing your sword once in the entire combat. If you've been hit by the bug, you should be able to tell (the slowdown only occurs in combat).

Sounds like I have not been hit by it, then :) Thanks again!
