So why the double standard, Bamboo? Do you enjoy demanding the return of the killables, instead of making them important NPCs, while demanding that Liara/VS get regulated to NPC status with no Squaddie return chance despite their plot armor?

I WANT THE ME1 SQUAD WHICH HAS BEEN SPECIFICALLY SAVED FOR ME3 TO BE IMPORTANT TO THE STORY!? HOW DARE I! I SHOULD BE FLOGGED FOR SUCH IDEAS!

Why the double standard? Because your squad isn't important to the story and 90% of ME2 was getting us emotionally invested in the squad, throwing them away would be the worst writting since Mein Kampf (had to get some Goodwin's Law in there since we're no longer using logic). You seem to think being part of Shepard's squad is the highest honor in the galaxy...Protip: It's not.

Temper, temper, Bamboo. You haven't changed at all. When you're proven wrong you always get this way and it's a pity. I wonder when you'll learn to admit when you're wrong instead of throwing a fit. It's simply unbecoming!

So basically your arguement is...

Special Treatment for the Killables.
Shafting Liara/VS Fans yet again.

This just in people, making former squad mates actually important to the story beyond having to follow Shepard around is considered shafting them.

More on this complete lapse in logic at 11.

More pissed than Liara/VS Fans would be if they get shafted again while the Killables still come back despite them having no plot armor compared to Liara/VS?

Oh I'm including Liara and the VS in that.  I want my ME Liara, not this ME2 "darker" is better liara....

So let me get this straight you're saying that Persona A who has to help someone else combat the Reapers and is stuck following them around is more important to the story than someone who is combatting the Reapers directly and serving as a direct ally and not a subordinate.

I would give you a 10/10 for your trolling but I do find it amusing so you get a 0/10.

i hope alot of the ME2 squad returns i liked alot of them. their possible deaths arent really that important because they can still be important to the plot, if they're dead someone else steps into that role, if they're alive they do that role BETTER.

as in, you know, consequences.

honestly, i'd say Miranda is more important to the story than say, ashley or kaidan. i hope her death is extremely significant to the story. ashley and kaidan are just glorified alliance grunts when it comes to story significance. the only important thing about them is their possible relationship with shepard, other than that i dont see them being all that important.

Ashley and Kaiden have become more important/risen in the ranks since Shepard's death in terms of their Alliance standing.

Possibly Ashley and Kaiden for people who left Cerberus and Miranda for people who stayed with Cerberus.

Yes, it is. Let's take Anderson, for example.

Anderson is importand to the story in ME1. Now compare his screentime/dialogue with any ME1 squaddie.

No problem there.3 squadmates of the first game were not in the second. People  dealt with it.

No, Anderson is a minor character in both games, he's actually only relevant to the first part of the game, not the whole story. If Anderson was constantly showing up and you were constantly talking to him about stuff would you consider that shafting? No? Well that's exactly what I'm asking for.

in my game miranda left cerberus for me. she backed my choice and stayed with me. i see no reason for her to not be in the game unless she died, she can easily play a more significant role to the story than the VS could.

i see miranda making a big return as a key person honestly. characters like Grunt and Samara are fairly unimportant because they're not really connected to anything bigger than themselves.

i mean from a storyline perspective miranda is harder to replace than the VS. the VS is just an alliance soldier while miranda has deep ties with countless intelligence agencies, worked deeply with cerebus as a TOP operative,

i mean the VS can't be THAT important to the alliance or super high ranked if they got a crappy baby sitting job of installing guns for terminus colonies.

Wrex - important yet he's killable. more influentcial than the VS from what i can see.
Liara - vastly more important than the VS
miranda - more important than the VS

i mean just from a writing standpoint i dont see the VS as being that important, they arent  super high ranked person, sure they're higher than just "grunt" now but still pretty unimportant.

Again you fail, Bamboo. It isn't just about importance since most fans don't care about stuff beyond Shepard and their Squad. What you're advocateing is discrimination against Liara/VS fans that want them to return as Squaddies and discimination against those that want their ME2 Squaddies, that're all killable and have 0 plot armor, to be something more important than Shepard's Guns.

Of course that stuff doesn't factor into your mind because it isn't what 'you' want.

I conceed the point, it just would be nice to see the VS go beyond a glorified grunt especially since they were saved for ME3.

Wrong.

No, your wrong. Thane tells you that he has only 9-12 months to live.

/sigh

He says he would be fine, standing on his feet and fighting, for 8-12 months. Since Kerpal's syndrom is something that evolves and progresses with time, it's not like Thane would be ok for 8 month and then bam! - suddenly dead.

It means that in 8-12 month he won't be able to fight as he used to; still, most likely the desease would allow him to breathe, eat, read, watch videos, go for walk. Then Kerpal would progress even further and lead to multiple health problems and issues, which would get worse and worse. But that would also take time. Thus, upon meeting Thane he has 8-12 month to fight and no one knows how much time to just, well, live until Kerpal's would finish him.

Neither ME2 dialogue, nor codex entries, nor LotSB dossier specify how exactly much time Thane has before Kerpal's would get him.

Liara is the shadow broker now, she won't be in the squad regardless. As for the VS, they would have to become a deserter to team up with Shepard again, seeing how they're still bound to the Alliance military. However, anything can happen in ME3, so I wouldn't rule it out.

As for the killables, some of them are obviously going to leave. Thane is dying, Samara has her code, Zaeed is still out for revenge. Then we have Mordin, who might go to Tuchanka to help cure the krogan. If not, he might stick around. If romanced, Jack might stick around. If not, she will probably roam Terminus and cause mayhem. Jacob and Miranda are probably bound to be around since they seem to want to do the right thing (and if Paragon, Miranda quits her job at Cerberus at the end of the SM). Grunt may either stick around with his battlemaster or go back to Tuchanka and fulfil his role as a member of clan Urdnot. Kasumi seems like the kind of person who likes an exciting life, but whether that is stealing priceless stuff or saving the galaxy, I don't know. But then again, if Jacob stays (and isn't romanced, but who would?) she might want to stay too.

As for Garrus and Tali, they are PRETTY MUCH given. Garrus, of course, being Shepard's ultimate bro, even if romanced. Tali being part of the Normandy crew, which is like sacrosanct to quarians. Oh, and if she's romanced. I don't even have to speculate there.

Wrex is still Chief Badass Krogan and King of Tuchanka. If he left, all his work would be for nothing.

I think that's all of them.

No wait, Legion. Legion might go back to the geth now that his job (dealing with the heretic geth) is done. But then again, he seems to have a virtual boner for Shepard, so I think he might stick around.

That's pretty good coming from the guy whose entire argument has to do what he wants.

Protip: Every post ever on these forums is about what the person posting wants.
Protip: More people belong to the bring back ME2 squadmates minority than the don't bring them back minority, the majority could give two sh*ts eitherway.
Protip: Most VS, Wrex, and Liara fans only care about interaction, myself included Wrex is the best character in Mass Effect. As long as we get to interact with them regularly I would much rather see them be important to the story than a glorified grunt following Shepard around. We can't do this with the ME2 squad because 1) Most of them aren't that important, 2) 3 people being important makes more sense than 15, when 12 of them could be better served as grunts, 3) They don't have the plot armor that the ME1 squaddies do, they werent saved specifically for ME3.

also, i'll probably get alot of hate for saying this. but i dont think liara should be a squad mate again. she's more valuable to shepard doing her information stuff than running around with him in person.

also i never understood why tali is a combat crewmate, she's not really military or a combat expert, and she's a member of a super frail alien race. seems a bit odd to bring her into combat zones when she can die from a minor infection from something as silly as scrapping her suit against a loose nail lol. recruiting her as an alien tech expert and engineer makes perfect sense, but as a combat squadmate? ehhhh.

Let's compromise, then: the VS is a constant ally, but only a temporary squadmate.  You get lots of opportunities to chat with them and they help you out a lot, but they've grown beyond just being a member of your team.

Fighting by your side as an equal, not for you, but with you?  I can dig it.  I also want to see them do Alliance-related stuff, and they can't if they're stuck on the Normandy the whole time.

Those are playthrough specific, Paragon Sheps have Samara tell them she'll be their on-call Justicar and if you kill Vido, Zaeed's revenge is satisfied and he "owes you" for "solving a lot of people's problems not just [his] own"
