You mean the Warden falls in love with Bethany and they take part in a secret ritual that allows them to have a kid, which is then raised by aunt/uncle Hawke? How'll I convince Isabela/Fenris/Meril/Anders be them alive or dead to adopt that kid? Oh, I know! We must compete with Morrigan. Good.

hmmm... a five-some with my Warden, Morrigan, Bethany, Isabella, and Leliana! there ya go!

oh hell! make it a 6-some and lets include Lady elegant. Image IPB

No, just... No. You'll end up summoning loads of desire demons all over the place. The Veil, you know, can be ****ed.

hell! put in a couple of desire demons in there too and we have ourselves a good 'ol fashioned orgy medieval style!

Hmm My mage Hawk might have a few offspring from the women at the rose but I don't think Anders can get pregnant.
And my rogue would be throw overboard by Issy if that happened.

Speaking as a life-roleplayer - latex ears and glue are probably going to be a lot cheaper and less painful :o

Nice Idea, I wouldn't trust Bioware with it though. More likely it'd be like the old god baby [conveniently swept under the rug]

Lol, I don't mean as a RL role player, I mean just because. I mean, omg. It may seem silly, but all those feline traits of the new Elves are just... Omg, it's very sexy to me. And those ears >.< The ears get me every time

Just saying, mask-latex is cheaper then surgery :)

I'm writing that I assume you mean during, not after, the game.

Should Hawke have? No. Or at least Hawke's and a love interest.

While the idea of seeing a child grow over time is alluring, and possible in this series of events, the biggest problem is Hawke having one: a child-character would be a rather significant element, and from a writing/design standpoint wouldn't be something that should be missed (by same-sex/abstaining couples).

It also wouldn't work well being born from any union later in the game with a LI: we know that children show their powers in their later childhood, not necessarily immediately. The most reasonable time for the child to be any sort of character, as opposed to a non-speaking pallete-swap interchange, would require a child to be about six or seven when the game enters it's final act... and that means born near the start.

Moreover, a LI-dependent child, even from a reworked time-frame, would vary either too much or not at all from a casting/writing POV.

The key requirements for a child would be an early start (too early for a LI), and someone unavoidable (can not be prevented from starting),

Two situations that would allow Hawke to be a parent figure:

1) Hawke (either gender) had a child before the start of the game. The other parent died at Ostagar, making Hawke a recent widow/widower. Hawke is effectively a single parent, though of course Hawke's family (and mother especially) help raise the kid while Hawke is out making the money to let them all live. Naturally, all LI's become foster/step parents. The other parent is left mostly blank: no names, no attributions to his/her character, and leaving to the player what Hawke feels/remembers about them.

2) The child belongs to whichever sibling dies. The sibling's other could be fleshed out a bit more in this case rather than a blank slate, and it falls to Hawke and family to raise their nephew/niece/grandchild. Hawke, as the more assertive/present family member, is the 'parent'. Sort of.

Yes, but it doesn't last as long, and it doesn't "feel" right. No matter how long those rubber tips are on my ears ,they'll never be MY ears, if that makes any sense.

That's definitely a reason (though not granted, there's nothing P. Paolini can't ruin). I wish, i wish... :o

Yes, dammit.

If you're going to give us a years-spanning storyline, why on earth not work it in every possible way that you can? That would've been a pretty impressive emotional investment for the player, and another difference between playthroughs; my archer rogue who romanced Isabela wouldn't be a mother, while my mage who romanced Anders might have had to decide whether to be the killer of her child's father. That sure would have added a bit of extra impact to his betrayal, and added an extra feeling of "this Hawke is different from this Hawke."

Hawke is a highwayman...a mercenary...as Aveline so eloquently puts it. Why the heck would he or she have kids? It sort of takes away from the out-causing-trouble-for-money business. And yes, people can live together their whole lives and never have kids. Children in the equation would make me think of that stupid option in the Fable franchise. As someone else said, babysitting a spouse and kid was so lame. I invariably ended up sacrificing them to the Temple of Shadows, but I digress.

Fenris would likely cope rather badly with it, since he is just getting accustomed to the fact he is free and self-dependent. A family would tie him down and he would just be a slave to the character and child instead of a free man deciding for having a family.

Actually, having family ties is one of the things that Fenris does want. In one of the banters with Merrill you learn the real reason that he hates Merrill so much, her being a blood mage is only part of it. "You had a life. You had a family. And you threw it all away to chase after ghosts."

Though giving Fenris a mage kid would be priceless.

I would love this and even thought about it (which is odd because whenever someone mentions Shep having kids I cringe). And since my Hawke that romanced him is a mage the chances of her having a mage child are pretty good.
