I hate these things in DA2. I have the hardest time with them for some reason.

Doing the Sebastian quest in Act 2 (can't remember the name) bad enough when dealing with 1 rage and 10 shades... now at the part with 2 rage demons and another 10 shades.. whipping my butt.

Rage Demons to me are definitely the most annoying enemies in the game.
They are the darkspawn version of assassins. They have a boatload of HP, and the do stealthand backstab attacks that are just cheesy. They also steal your potions too.

Dealing with Rage demons with my rogue just sucks. Their attack disrupts going into stealth, you can't move and they come right at you. I hate them more than I hated Revenants from DA:O

Dealing with individual shades isn't too bad.. but the ones with more health and when they attack in groups just suck.

I can't get over the whole "stealing potions" thing. It just feels so hilarious somehow =) "RAAAAAAAGE! I'm gonna kill you dead! Mwahahaha I'm gonna TAKE YOUR POTIONS!!"

Has anyone checked if the damage that rage demons dish out is fire damage?
I keep on meaning to try to fight them with fire warding runes and seeing if it makes me immune to their attacks.

You can look forward to a section at the end with a pride demon, blood mage and what feels like about 60 shades coming at you.

Cold damage kill rage demons and electric shades just stay in a corner then the demon can't flank you.

In the end, you'll probably be ok, kill the mage ASAP, then you can use the pride demon's crushing prison and charge attack against the shades in combination with your own attacks until they are all dead.  By himself, the pride demon isn't so bad.

One other tip the demon may not be able to flank you but make sure you move your companions away too do what you would do with Assassins remember as long as anders lives you do. Yeah the end part I think you will enjoy a lot (sarcasm) if you hate demons.

If you can kill Assasins easy you can kill Rage Demons even easier.

The fight with that pride demon is annoying only took me a few tries but still all them shades always going for my mages. The shades and myself are the treat is that fight not really the pride demon himself. I play nightmare and sometimes get too excited with my aoes and there goes Varric or Anders again lol.

Fenris Staggers + Merrill Chain lightning kills group of shades dead.

Really, that's the only efficient way of killing them quickly.  Otherwise it's a grind.

Little did you know, but when the rage demon disappears, he's actually in your house eating your favorite icecream.

Icecream doesn't stop him, it only makes him:
RAGE HARDER.

Elemental Aegis destroys those things. Shades & Rages are really deadly if they get to surround you, which sometimes happens with the cheesy 360-degree spawns. But 9/10 times you can just send your tank in first and retreat to a safe corner or to the next room with your softies, then just let your tank gather them up and around and proceed with AoE mayhem.

Rogue types in general are ridiculously easy once you get the hang of how to deal with them. It took me several stages of learning from "F*** THIS *"#¤ THEY'RE IMPOSSIBLE" to "ok I think I'm finally learn- WTF IS THIS #"%" to "oh finally I'm getting how to handle these *dies and reloads*... sigh" to my current stage "ooh 3 rogues, (10 seconds later) and they're all dead, *yawn*".

My point being, it took me literally 2 and a half playthroughs to bother learning enough of the game to reliably handle rogues with practically no problems at all. There are certain basic abilities and tactics you MUST get right, but once you do, nothing aside from bad luck and the few really tough bosses really pose a threat anymore. So, just learn. :) Plenty of tips and youtube vids etc around for that.

I will be more prepared for these things on my second playthrough. I am bad at charging ahead and not putting team on hold and going in with tank first.
