Assume you are a dual weapon Rogue, with a Mage, sword and shield Warrior and two handed Warrior - and you're playing Nightmare (which I love).
Given FF is active, with the huge weapon swing of the 2H warrior in particular, are there just too many front-men (Rogue, Sword & Shield, 2HW) for the Rogue to really get front and personal (how I played the Rogue on Nightmare in Origins) taking into consideration the huge damage arc from 2H weapons.
What I'm getting at is would the Rogue have to 'dodge' and be overly mindul of this most of the time, somewhat taking away from the experience (as I would see it).

hm when I took along isabela with my 2h warrior on some quests, I ended up sending her to different targets to prevent me killing her. Eventually you are forced to focus fire on bosses though.

Yes. Unfortunately FF active means you will have to babysit your entire party or gimp your parties talents so they can coexist. Certain talents will be a no go like winters grasp. When fully upgraded it will often freeze your warrior or rogue if you are attacking the same target. Trust me It gets old fast

My nightmare party is 1 front line and 3 ranged. Ranged fighters focus more on crowd control than damage.

I am also playing a Rogue and I found Nightmare a lot easier with 2 mages and a 2H warrior tank.
When I played with Aveline and Fenris together, Fenris dealt too much damage to Aveline.
On the other hand, with 2 mages (Anders and Merril), both equipped with upgraded Petrify and upgraded Winter's grasp, it was much easier to set up BRITTLE bosses/elites for my rogue to assassinate.
I usually start tough battles using a bow, perhaps take out one of the lieutenants with a ranged assassinate and then use my mages to set up a BRITTLE target on the highest health enemy as soon as the assassinate cooldown has expired.
When I switch to daggers, I keep out of the range of Fenris by using backstabs and closing (leaping) attacks to teleport around. The game would be easier to use the bow exclusively, but dagger attacks are so much fun. Also, on extremely high health enemies you get 2x assassinate numbers.
The only tactics I use are to activate sustained modes (Summon Mabari, Lyrium Ghost, Rock Armor, Elemental Weapons, etc.). Other than that, I carefully control all party members and pause frequently.

Thanks.
I really want to use the Aveline/Fenris setup but am concerned.
