I've been getting a lot of bugs during my Arrival playthroughs, which has really marred my experience of this DLC.

The worst one so far is during the fight at the security area when you gotta defend Kenson as she hacks prison security.

Basically, if I kill the enemy waves too quickly, no new waves come, which basically hangs the mission. The first time it happened, I closed the gate shutter with one guy still behind it. The next few times, I killed the enemy wave before / soon after they left their elevators...

Eventually what I had to do to pass the sequence was basically to play... very passively. I would literally sit in the middle of the level and wait for enemies to come near and fire a few clips before engaging them, which was really unenjoyable for me. Posted Image

I know a lot of you guys like to play ME2 aggressively as well. Did any of you run into this problem as well? If so, any tips for playing this sequence dynamically, yet still progressing?

I had this happen once on my vanguard, but I just attributed it to a glitch because the next time it worked fine without a change in my playstyle.

^I reloaded this section many times, and each time the bug triggered for me.

I just realized that this is probably totally in the wrong forum.. sorry mods.

Still want help though.

I didn't kill them very quickly but that was due to a bug as well. I was playing as a vanguard, and I charged against a group on an elevator. Got stuck below it, so after loading I decided to just wait for for them to get off the elevators.

Also had a problem elsewhere in Arrival where my charge cooldown was used but I didn't actually charge.

This happens in other parts of the game as well, but I noticed it several times in this DLC alone.

Indeed. My point was that Charge is exceptionally buggy here.

I figured out why that happened. Most likely, one of the enemies fell down from the elevator, got stuck mid-air, but the game still thinks he's alive. I just killed him and then it went on just fine.

Dominate also doesn't work too well in Arrival, many times I used it and had the mook just fall down and then get back up with a barrier and start blasting at me again. Don't know why, they just do, especially in the ending run against all the indoctrinated guards.

I have also had several unexplained crashes, and a Claymore that seems seriously underpowered on some standard enemies, taking 3 shots to actually kill one standard guard(non-elite or engineer, just a plain guard). I can't remember for sure, but I think AI hacking didn't work too well on the last Heavy mech either, but I could be misremembering.

Couldn't find the jerk.. must've gotten stuck really far down. Posted Image   Then again, there was also that dude I locked behind that door... Posted ImagePosted Image

Thumbs down to BW on this one. None of the things they put in this DLC were *totally, totally* new to the game. Their implementation could've/should've been so much better.

Yeah, I had 1 Batarian still alive but it never shown on my radar nor health bar with Vanguard.

While I was thinking WTF happen I started out of bored to melee Batarian ragdoll but that Batarian was still alive but glitched on floor.
After that game continued.

^I think a few people have experienced dead enemies turning out to not actually be dead. Lol maybe BW programmed a new "play possum" routine into the enemy AI, just to see how the fans would react!

IMHO this fight should have used timed triggers to spawn the waves, and not kill count. This would've avoided a lot of problems. Besides, the enemy waves I was getting only numbered in the 2's & 3's, so it's not like passive players would've been seriously disadvantaged.

^Sucks man.

Now that I've had time to cool off, I think it's the bugs that really ruined this DLC for me.

Post up any bugs you guys have run into, even if they're not necessarily just in the prisonbreak sequence.

Must be nice to be so good that you kill guys too quickly for the game to keep up with :) That's meant as a joke & compliment ... god I feel like EDI now :)

Are you on a PC or XBox platform??

When you close the shutter you let all of the first wave through right? You then close it before the 2nd wave gets there at all right? If you don't let the guys into the field of play then I'm not sure what can be done. I've had similar problems sometimes [usually Vanguard] and theres no fix other than to let the game do its thing.

As for the elevators at least let the elite get off the pad. If you do that you're usually fine.

EDIT: I see Kronner found the issue. I had something similar in overlord and ended up having to see him and eyeball an incinerate or similar at them. Sometimes you could try touching off a shockwave or similar ... you might get lucky.

BTW: In addition to charge bugs there are AI oddities with Drones & Dominated targets where sometimes they have clear line of sight but ignore and are ignored by enemies. I don't see the mechanism as to why yet.

lol

I got that too and that was because I was on edge when I pressed button.

I only had to reload quick save, no biggy.

I play ME2 looking up to ppl like Kronner + Boz & and I guess you too... didn't you overkill those guys in that part as well?? Posted Image

With the guys spawning from the shutter, what I eventually started doing was timing my killing so that I'd be able to hit the button just before the second wave appeared. This part was basically taken from Garrus' mission, so I don't see why they decided to muck it up.

The elevator parts were more frustrating, as the game gives you LOS on the baddies as they are riding up, which makes it tempting to kill them before they arrive on level... I found that killing them before they left the pad (extremely easy and tempting on Hardcore) froze the mission. I ended up waiting for them to get off the lift, get set up, shoot and begin advancing before killing them in a single clip.

It's just frustrating that this sequence seemed to be more difficult due to bugs than actual difficulty. I never got more than 3 guys per wave, which made this fight one of the easiest I can think of in the game. They should have been triggered/spawn according to timer instead of kill count.

About the drones.. I just restarted my Engineer playthrough and haven't unlocked Arrival for her yet, but I've read that the unusual AI in the Object Rho fight was programmed to ignore drones... I dunno. I dunno about Dominate either. I've been reading about ppl hacking/dominating enemies in this mission to great effect.

First ... Thank you for the compliment.
Second: Don't look up to me ... I'm LAAAMMMEEE and skillless ... no REALLY. Admire Boz & Kronner & Sino or the other elites.

I did not manage to kill the guys anywhere near as fast as you did [not even close] ... So far I've played through with 2 soldiers, 1 sentinel, 1 adept, and 1 engineer. IIRC everyone managed to get off the elevators. My adept almost warp bombed some guys off but didn't quite get them.

On the shutter guys I didn't even "open up" until the guys got on the field.

Honestly the Mattock soldier did a fine job of wiping them quickly but nowhere near your level of overkill.

I might be close with a Vanguard but we'll see.

****************************

I didn't overkill the guys like you did. I should have said I had a similar problem with "Project Overlord" where a guy fell down an elevator but lived. I only got through with an Incin. Blast or somesuch.

***********************

Sometimes my drones & dominates work fine. Other times they're ignored. From what I can tell there "seems" to be clear line of sight but I must be doing something [wrong] that I don't see.

***************************

With the exception of the gauntlet I also found a lot of the levels "too easy" for Insanity.

I can't brag. It only takes 5 chest shots or so from the Mattock, with ARush to kill one of the regular guards on Hardcore. Since I've never gotten more than 2-3 closely bunched guys per wave, it's quite possible to kill a whole wave within one clip and one ARush and maybe a melee or two.

I suppose this sequence might actually be easier on Insane and/or NG+, as enemies will be harder to kill and thus the chance of triggering the bug will be smaller. How'd that be for irony?

I got my first bug at that protecting Dr. Kenson part last night.  I was a Sentinel.  I think my Tech Armor or Throw Field pushed someone out of bounds.  The enemy didn't show up as a red dot on my radar, though.  I had to reload as Dr. Kenson never quit hacking.

What's the chance of BW releasing a patch for this DLC? lol

I would say slim to none.  Apparently patching DLC is a huge headache.  That's why Kasumi's passive is still broken.  That's why the Equalizer pack features a broken helmet.

On my latest playthrough, I saw one of the enemies fall off the elevator without any outside 'help'. He threw a flashbang at me, and fell down. Fortunately, he got stuck mid-air, so I could shoot him and proceed. But this is very annoying bug, as it may require a restart.
