Because racial-stereotype-based mockery combined with poop jokes is hi-lar-i-ous. And edgy. Oh so very edgy.

Pretty pointless for me. Nothing that was mention made me grin and say, oh ****, I did do that didn't I.

the main reason its pointless is it has zero effect on the game outside of some mentions in dialogue for the most part.
the only time i even felt like my original save had any effect on the game at all was when i got the quest from the king/queen of ferelden.... i got to see 1 character again for about 20 seconds.
that was the only time i can even think of where my original game had any effect at all on DA2.

Importing saves is a fantastic idea but I think it was executed better in ME2 than DA2.
Origins is very open ended so I understand there's a lot to keep track of but I imagine it made it easier that DA2 doesn't exactly follow on from the first game.
The main issue I've had is that I imported a save where my Dalish Warden died and Merrill seems well aware of that. Leliana and Cassandra on the other hand act as though she lived calling Hawke 'gone like the Warden'.
Edit- If they meant the Orlesian Warden from Awakening it's just badly explained rather than not making sense but the save I imported had no DLC so I'm guessing that's not the explanation.
