Hello all,

Most of the time, I have no problems with DA:O (except for it running slower in the big battle scenes, such as Redcliffe, Denerim, Amaranthine/Vigil's Keep; dialling the resolution down to the lowest possible setting makes it bearable)

However, all of a sudden, every time I open a save from one of my characters, DA:O crashes to the desktop (after a "Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working" message from Windows), after at most 30 seconds of play (and immediately if I start a conversation with anyone)
This does not occur with any of my other characters (to date); I have tried reloading earlier saves (right back to the beginning, which was over 25 hours of gameplay ago), but the problem persists
However, earlier saves seem to be capable of running for longer without crashing; starting a conversation with anyone immediately triggers a crash, though

I have tried setting all settings to their lowest possible values, disabling the frame-buffer effects, running DA:O with the sound disabled (thank you Configuration Utility)

Patched to version 1.04; sound drivers etc. upgraded to most recent versions; been through multiple computer restarts
Windows 7 64-bit
4 GB RAM
ACER Aspire 6530G

I'm in the UK, so I assume that I have either the UK version (if such a thing exists) or the US version (if the UK does not; certainly the spelling has me leaning towards the US)

Also have DA: Awakening, as well as the below DLC (which has been paid for):
The Stone Prisoner
Warden's Keep
Return To Ostagar
Leliana's Song
Darkspawn Chronicles
Golems of Amgarrak
Witch Hunt
Helm of the Deep
The Wicked Oath
Bregan's Bow
Mark of Vigilance
Amulet of the War Mage
Blood Dragon Armour
The Lion's Paw
Embri's Many Pockets
The Edge
The Lucky Stone
Pearl of the Anointed
Bulwark of the True King
Feastday Pranks
Feastday Gifts

Additionally, my firewall has suddenly been receiving requests from DA:O to access the Internet. Have always allowed these requests, but no change
Not sure if this has any relevance, but the rule seems to be: when asking for tech support, give as much info as possible

Help please?
