The fight itself is fine, he just has too much health. I found the fight easiest on my archer rogue.
First of all, no one should bother with archer talents... they are rubbish. A fully leveled out duelist is very nice; however if you want to cheese your way through the fight just spam decoy whenever it's up. Combustion grenades always work on him and a leveled up evade has about a 50/50 chance to stun him. Throw the gauntlet is nice since it drastically lowers his defenses and allows you to crit him every time you hit him. Stealth is also nice as well since you can stealth as he approaches you and just run to the other end of the map and get a few arrows in.
How did you beat the 1v1 Duel with the Qunari Leader?

I'm looking forward to it on my Rogue, though.

Didn't as a mage, even on casual. I suppose I could have as a rogue but I didn't get to (Isabela didn't return :'( ).

I haven't tried to take him on one on one other than the 1st time I met him and croaked. I simply hate kiting battles.

I've only duelled him once. As a sword and board Warrior I stood in front of him with his back to the door and beat the ever loving crap out of him for 10 mins. I actually liked having to fight his whole legion more, made the fight interesting.
