Messere is a real, albeit obsolete, form of address. Signore is the updated version, and it's a male-only term IRL.


Ser, I believe, is a term found in fantasy settings only. I've heard it was used in a Song of Fire and Ice or something like that, but I've never read it.

that did cross my mind the other day when I was thinking of naming my upcoming FemHawke Mage, Serah....
I think that song is also a bit befitting of DA2 as well, considering the time lapse and everything..

Serrah seems to be a derivative of sirrah, an early modern English term for an inferior, servant, etc. The meanings aren't the same as Mr. Gaider said in his post.

It took me most of Act 1 to realize that I wasn't being insulted by the NPCs left and right. It wasn't until I turned on the supertitles that I realized it was "serrah" and not "sirrah."

I thought they were calling me Sarah! Kept looking for the I'm not Sarah dialouge option.
'A case of mistaken identity' would have made for a nice side quest actually. Assasins could come up to you and say "Are you Sarah Kunner?" then big fight, get letter, break Sarah Kunner out of Circle, help her defeat Golem from Future. (what copyright?)

I thought it was an altered version of 'sirrah'. I remember in Blood Omen, Moebius calls Kain 'sirrah' in the oracle's cave.
