As a wise fisherman once said, 90% of everything is carp. That applies equally well to forum posters I think.

Personally I get a little bit tired of hearing acronyms which are derived either from WoW or from some other more obscure title that I feel under no obligation to know about. What's really sad is that people seem to assume that DA:O must work the same way as WoW does. Hence, really clueless opinions about respeccing characters, the level cap, and game balance.

The people that are most annoyed by WoW players or even know a WoW player when they see one are other WoW players.

It seems like the WoW community up and decided to come play DA:O and blow its forums up. Just when you thought you could escape the first 10 posts I read....

"L2this, best DPS setup, TPS this, quit whining, calculations that...." People should just be having fun/roleplaying fun characters and messing with things that aren't so cookie cutter, I think that's where most of the enjoyment is being stripped from. Great game, doesn't need to be turned into a single player World of Warcraft community wise...

Do they realize this is a story-driven single player RPG and not a competitive raid driven gaming environment? I'm all for collaboration and sharing ideas/tips but ego stroking and going on and on about your single player domination is pathetic. Is anyone else as nauseated by this as I am?

Stop trolling, WoW did not invent DPS or loot

Eh, it's all the same stuff I saw with Baldur's Gate back in the day. The best build, the most damage, the best party, "It's too hard!," & "I beat it solo blindfolded. Too easy!"

Though the cries of "nerf Mages!" are both hilarious and disturbing. Those people I do assume come from WoW. It's like they have no idea what a single player RPG is.

I must first point that I hate all existing MMOs without restrictions(so I should be inclined to WoW player bashing), though I'm curious about the Bioware story oriented MMO that is coming(my last hope for the MMO genre).

But on the other hand like someone pointed out earlier it was the same with previous Bioware games, with Baldur's gate too, best builds and so on(I don't think the dps term was already there though).

Apparently some people are not able to get past the game mechanisms to enjoy the absolutely marvelous universe and story Bioware has brought to life, too bad for them :).

I think the RPG genre is being corrupted by games like World of Warcraft and Oblivion. RPG stands for Role Playing Game. You're playing a role within a world of interaction between people and non-people. So many posts just want to know the best way to nuke everything dead within seconds of the encounter. Bioware, please do not listen to the crazies. DAO is fantastic.

Because of WoW's success, it is "cool to hate". If WoW (which is more revolutionary than evolutionary) were only a moderately successful game, no one would give a sh*t about it.

I recently got out of the love-hate relationship with WoW, and I actually am very refreshed by DA about not having to worry about all the numbers and min-maxing and "you're not good enough if you're not in full patch raid gear on first day of patch". If I need someone to number-crunch things for me, I turn to my husband. In DA however, I can just play and enjoy the game without needing to worry about squeezing out just a couple more %s of some stat with this gear or that gear!
