Thank you for your great moment of intelligence which impresses us all. We see that you're not silly with your comment, indeed. Posted Image

Slightly off-topic, but

To address the nudity thing you bring up, rendering a naked Fenris (with all those markings) for one itty bitty scene was wasteful cost/time/storage wise.

I still wanted to see it. I want to know where those tattoos go...

On topic:
The goodbye at the Gallows with Anders was really lame after seeing Fenris's. Particularly since I lost my favorite companion just to keep him alive (and I really don't agree with what Anders did. At all.) And having Anders move in was weird since you can't really interact with him beyond a one-word comment. Even Orana has more speaking lines.

In short, the romances weren't terrible, I just think there should have been a bit more consideration given for the time skips and such. And perhaps nudity would have been awkward considering the frame narrative? I dunno.

I hope the devs are reading this thread and taking notes.

DA2 is the only Bioware game I didn't bother with the romances in. None of the characters interest me but most importantly, the way the romances happen interested me even less. We got two or three chances to pick the heart dialogue option then wait around not being able to advance things at all until the companion shows up in our house. Meh.

Honestly I never liked Merrill, but I might romance her for one playthrough just because the different outfit that she gets is really cool! I have to admit when I romanced Anders I never noticed that his outfit changed lol.

His outfit change has to do with his 'Justice' personal quest in Act 3, actually. You don't need to romance him to get it (but I do like it better than his other clothing, which is by far the most bleh of all the companions').

I don't know. I was completely addicted to Alistair in the 1st game (played it through 18 times & married him every one of them). But for me, the emotional response you get from Fenris completely eclipses it. Everything from that voice to those tatoos of his gave me the shivers. Sure I would have liked more interaction with him, but the lack of sex really didn't faze me much.

Yep. When it comes to romance immersion Bioware knows how to do it best.

Well, I also really liked Fenris and I thought that my Hawke will be forever happy in his arms, but unfortunately I have to give up because the way romances were handled, and as I wrote before, it didn't have anything to do with the lack of sex ;)

And I am curious and would like to read your answer - doesn't it bother you that if you decide to play a DA2 again and romance Fenris again, it will be almost the same experience? Well, there are 2 factors that can change - rivalry/friendship path or men/women Hawke. But it still will be the same scheme, the same things will be happening in the same order with the same result. In the same place you will have to click the same icon. With Alistair, we have a little more freedom - there could be slightly different approaches, different pacing, different outcome. It wasn't much, but it was there, and this little illusion of freedom made it personal for me. But, well, I guess it doesn't have to work the same way for everyone, right ;)

For a romance that was supposed to occur over the course of a decade, the DA2 romances felt the most shallow and rushed of any BioWare game I've played so far.

What we got was OK as far as it went, but where I did feel like the rest of the world was progressing (Yes, even Aveline gets a life and develops her story believably), I felt like mine was a rushed Spring Break style romance. I guess there just wasn't enough intimacy (not sexy time intimacy but getting-to-know-you intimacy) or depth to feel like me getting to know them over the course of ten years.
