BW should stop now this is exactly what got the first final fantasy movie (FF Spirits within) to fail miserably and get tons and tons of flaming nukes hurled at them by the fans of the FF universe so badly so they had to make a second FF movie (FF Advent Children) that put in the FF7 characters and evolved the story from the game. So to learn what Square Enix did BW make the movie about Shep and fallow after 3 or if you can't do that make the movie about ME1 and go into more details add a few missions in there and save yourselves the flames and hatred of your fans.

They're Final Fantasy fans. How smart are they to begin with? I'm personally excited to see the FCW. Making a movie about Shepard would just be a mistake.

FF7 Advent Children which was CG
Silent Hill which was live action
Resident Evil Degeneration - CG again
Dororo - Asian live action film off of the game blood will tell

Let's see DOA, All the RE live actions, Mortal Kombat, Um.....um...too many terrible films to remember! I've tried to scrub them from my mind now I have to think of them again! But anyhow 5 to 100 still isn't good enough there BW.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. If anything, that statement should be reversed. We're going to be seeing something new in the Mass Effect universe, not something that we are already familiar with.

Again, here's you thinking that the world revolves around you and that this film is being made solely for YOU. Tens of millions of people watch movies, how many of them do you think are going to be fans of this game? The main audience would have no idea who Shepard or Mass Effect is. Hell I didn't even know that Source Code was based off a video game, and I play video games. They aren't making a film about the FCW to set up Shepard, Saren, the Reapers, and so forth, they are doing it to sell a movie called Mass Effect and pitch it to as wide an audience as possible. So again, get over yourself and understand that Shepard can be ANYONE.

The rest of it doesn't sound very promising. I'm already ignoring the comics so I'll probably ignore this as well. Unless it stars Charlie Sheen as TIM. Then I'll go see it for the #winning.

Look, anything with Shepard in it is a bad idea. That's what the games are for. Can we leave it at that? Shepard and most of his/her squad are too young to be involved in the First Contact War in any capacity. Saren, however, was in the FCW so there is that.

(2) A film with a protagonist that people don't give a damn about is a ineffective film.
Therefore...
(3) The film would be "bad." And "bad" is just one opinion. I'm allowed to say that a film about Shepard would be "bad" because it's my own damn opinion.

You understand what an opinion is, right? You certainly have some....

I'm not dismissing it just yet, because the First Contact War could make for an interesting story, but I really have to say I was looking forward to a movie about Shepard. The writing, however, should be done by BioWare people, or at least as much as is permitted by the weird laws of the movie industry (I'm completely unfamiliar with those but I wouldn't be surprised if there is one for this situation).

I know that the only game movie I can think of which was based on a game with an actual story was Prince of Persia... and at the end of the movie I thought that it could have been worse, but wasn't that great; going along the game's story as much as possible would have been better. That said, at least this is an already-known event.

If true, I'm also a bit "meh" about the screenwriter. I liked I Am Legend but he also did Poseidon which I did not like. As for the producer... so he does super hero stuff. Spiderman 1 and 2 were actually pretty well done, and Iron Man actually got a good bit of critical acclaim. So, he takes previously generated settings and turns them into decent and successful movies. Sounds good to me.

As for the suggested story and timeline... sounds great to me. Ne'er did like turians no how.
