Thank god they aren't rehashing the games into a film. Every film that redoes a game has been horrible, doing it for Mass Effect, where the player is guiding the story to a degree, would be worse.

First Contact war would be a good film, they just need to secure good actors, good budget and bioware respect. Still, I don't expect it will be an awesome film, it is a hollywood cash in afterall.

I am worried of them portraying the turians as generic evil aliens, rather than honor obsessed hierarchy that they are, so as not to scare the mainstream consumer with something as terrifying as an original plot. That or they'll say the turians are technologically superior but still have humans being worth far more than their weight in turians for the same reason, like in Halo.

Sounds more like Hollywood wants to try for a long-lasting franchise, frankly. Start off with an relatively inexpensive, if conventional, us vs. the creepy aliens thing and grow it from there -- or drop it immediately if it flops.

Imagine if Peter Jackson made The Hobbit first, and if it flopped, never made Lord of the Rings. Better yet, imagine if George Lucas made Star Wars Episode 1 first. Scary thought.

Mark Protosevich is writing the screenplay. He wrote I Am Legend, and worked on Thor,

among other films. I am not certain he is the best choice. Avi Arad is a credited producer, who worked on Iron Man, Spider Man 1 & 2, Ghost Rider, and other generic films. Take that as you will.

Ok, one fail is not as bad as 2 or more.

Needless to say I am disappointed. This is nothing more then a weak move to cash in on the title without having to commit to a trilogy of films. Low budget, cheesy actors, cheesy writing and an A-typical Hollywood mentality is exactly what I expect out of this. If they fail to deliver, don't expect any others.

This is a movie based off a computer game. How many in film history were critically successful?  Zero.

I hope so , First Contact Wars would be a pretty good starting point because they're still a lot to explore their that hasn't been completely revealed.I have feeling if they try to convert ME1 into a movie , who ever the person is will just throw stuff in their that doesn't make any sense.

evolutions a good comic. imo i think its better than redemption. as far as the film go's.... i wanna have high hopes but you know how videogame movies turn out in the end...

As long as neither Shepard nor his squad is in the movie, I'm okay with it and might give it a try. First Contact War sounds good to me. We'll see.

To be fair Turians were pretty monstrous during the first contact war. They punished a child for violating a rule they had no idea existed, and gave punishment for a system they didn't know they were a part of.

The Turians are an Empire, and it has conquered species in the past. They were ruthless during the first contact war, taking out entire blocks to "take out a squad." Civilians were suffering, food was scarce. It was brutal, which is why shanxi surrendered in the first place.

I am interested to see which perspective the movie is from though. I do hope the Turians get their fair shake, but considering what they done they WILL be the badguy.
