OK small room, he charges you, that vortex thing he does, and his adds.....does anybody have his weaknesses, or a strategy?  I had me (2hw) Merril, Varic, and Anders.  I tried to run to the opposite side of the room and pepper him from afar and have  my guy occupy him.  I got the demon to half health when it all went south.  Playing on hard.  This is tough.

This fight was fun! Took me a few times... Hybris himself is a bit of a pushover but his adds can get out of hand very quickly... focus fire the adds (get your tank on them too, ignore Hybris entirely until the adds are down). Other than that, stay out of le circle and it's easy.

Yeah I just beat it. You gotta kill his friends, stay far away from him and his blue death circle and all is good. It was a fun fight. Took me 4 times but I did it on hard. Anders died so I used a lot of potions. Need to buy em back.

His special attack stuns himself and the adds too. Basically whenever he pulls that crap, just run out of there. I have serious troubles with the Ancient Rock Wraith, High Dragon and Arishok. But Hybris is rather easy if you just stay out of that one ability and make sure you cover your softies from those adds. I might put up a video of a random try with my rogue soon as long as I learn how to pack it up and put it on youtube. I've had it on my HD for like 2 weeks now but it's 15 minutes long and takes 3 files + 10 gigs space so, there's a slight problem right there.

Nightmare only or every difficulty?

As for the tactics, one should really concentrate on them adds in this fights, or could be overrun by shadows and rage demons.

Yeah if you never kill his minions they can easily overwhelm your party. I was going around picking up health potions from all the fallen shades and rage demons.

The battle is hard untill you understand the right strategy. I made it with me (Mage Hawke specialized in Elemental, Force, Entropy and Spirit), Varric, Isabella and Aveline.

I keep Aveline against him all the time trying allways to keep his attention high. The other charachters attacked him too (Isabella from the back with hit and run tactics), but I focused those 3 char on the adds when they appeared trying to kill them as soon as I can (while Aveline would use Stonewall in those situations). And then returing to Hybris. As soon as he changed colors and begin to cast a spell, I would cast Dispel Magic to debuff him: that spell worked wonders, even to free Aveline from Crushing Prison. As far as I can say, he is very weak toward Spirit Magic (I believe even electricity but I never tested it). Using that strategy, it became an easier battle and I have just to drink a couple of potion.

All difficulties just have your ranged guys over the other end of the room and your PC as the warrior run in a direction that will put him in it. Pick off all the adds and you still have time to wail on him for a while while he's stuck. (Just did it 20mins or so ago on my nightmare playthrough first go

I was just wondering if friendly fire for hostiles works only on Nightmare or not.

I believe its all difficulties however there is only a few abilities that do. That zone from hybris and the ogres charge are the only ones I've directly noticed

Haha. Man that crap is funny. So here's my Hybrid Nightmare vid from 2 weeks back or something. The mistakes I do there are laughable now 2 weeks later, how I accidentally suicide Fenris to Aveline's retaliation (only now did I even understand why he died, I used to think Hybris just killed him), miss the timing on several CCC's, and in general act all clueless.

But I digress, honest vids are better than the fabricated "lucky shots only" ones. This was just a random I did as I played around while setting up my first-time ever rec. Only now two weeks later did I realise there's something called Windows Live Movie Maker, which allowed me to pack 10 gigs and 3 files into 400 megs so I could actually post it somewhere.

I used console for adding money on that run (as evidenced by the overabundance of potions, didn't use too many tho), otherwise it should be legit.

Rogue vs. Hybris Nightmare 1 of 2
Rogue vs. Hybris Nightmare 2 of 2

15 minutes or so, bound to get boring. But as said, just drop the adds and keep out of the AoE and even with soddy performance like that you'll be alright.

Try to use a video editing software. I ended up with a 44 gigs video file from After Effects. I had to delete third of my hard drive just to be able to compress it. I also don't know if Movie Maker is the best compressing program.

Back to topic, his vicious circle can affect other enemies and even himself. He will also always cast it on party member's position. If you keep your party bunched together, say 15 yards from the room's corner, you can move them into the corner meaning that every enemy that will follow them will be caught and paralyzed. you can be creative and use this sort of tactic to lure enemies into that paralyzing ring.

I just did this fight about an hour ago, and I found it pretty easy. SnS warrior works really well for fights likes this. You just have Hybris focus your unkillable SnS warrior and have the other 3 flank. I'll admit that Varric did die, but eventually there were no more adds so taunt+battle synergy (so Fenris didn't draw aggro) +then sword and shield stance (upgraded) + barrier from Anders = piece of cake. Once I realized that the AoE attack paralyzes I would just group move my party to the opposite corner of the room.
