I mostly replay to try out new classes. Usually on my first play through I'll find the tone that I like. However I didn't realize that once you set your tone at the beginning of the Act that it would change dialog through out the game. I tried a few of the "mean" Hawke statements and next thing I know I'm shutting people down left and right. I was just hoping to hear different phrases during combat and such and found myself wondering why I was being mean to Aveline. It's kind of killed my Rogue play through but I may just suck it up and commit to it.

While its cool that the tone and conversations change, sadly much of the story does not. Sure you may get to kill or spare different people but in the end you really only have 1 choice to make in Act 3 that changes anything significantly. I've considered trying to get rid of certain companions (Anders) but I don't want any potential XP/Item loss by losing access to missions.

The other problem I have is trying to play the game without Varric. He feels so essential to the story, considering he's the narrator, that I find it next to impossible to feel good about doing a mission without him. Not a big deal when you do your "Batman cleaning up the streets of Kirkwall" type quests, and as a Rogue he's always useful, but it usually means NOT having Isabella or Sebastian in the party or not playing an Archer or even a Rogue myself. I've left him behind a few times as my Rogue and I feel like I'm missing someone important.

So far as classes play I was happy with the Mage (although I definitely need to replay it just now that I know what spells I shouldn't be wasting my time with) and I LOVED my 2H Warrior Hawke. Rogue so far is nice, but on a PC I find myself pausing even more than I did with the other two classes to acquire new targets. I imagine this is the button mashing class thats perfect for console play. Then again maybe I just need to take a break from the game and wait for some more patches before exploring it further. Maybe by then I'll be able to get over Varric and just make the Archer I want to play.

I am considering making a Mage Hawke as a full on support character and then just play the game AS Varric. This solves never needing Anders (unless forced to) and being able to play as an archer Rogue!

I'm replaying my 1st char from a realy early save to get a full game experience after the bugfixes.

Then to try out new imported worlds and classes/personalities.
