See, instead of being able to explain these discrepancies you simply formulate more speculation on top of your original speculation to account for these discrepancies.  You add levels of complexity which make your speculation so far-reaching they pass the border of ludicricy.  Your speculation requires so many theories, so much speculation that it is no longer conceivable.  It is so complex it no longer can even begin to make sense.

And just because anything is possible, doesn't make it likely.

Sure, people are allowed to have their own opinions. I respect their right to that. That doesn't mean I have to respect their opinion, or be nice about my disagreement. Especially when it comes to things like this. We got where are because we're humans. We're smarter and better than everything else out there. To suggest our greatest achievements in engineering and art are just the result of some alien toying with our minds is insulting to say the least, to humanity and to the people who built those marvels.

I don't know about Atlantis, but humanity seems to have generally hugged coastlines. throught history and changing sea levels are never kind when the suddenly rise.

Their homeworld was probably nuked into nonexistence or so filled with space debris that things cannot even leave the surface of their planet, if anything they would come by and warn us about what we were doing.  That, or kill us all to take Earth for their own.

It brought up the possibility of alien contact.  That's like the UFOists version of bringing up the possibility of multiplayer on these forums - one whiff and POUNCE!  Honestly, what should any of us have expected?  It was a good idea for a topic, but in my experience these always turn into an argument about the Great Pyramids.
