I don't know if this has been posted before, but I found a work around to the shield armour glitch to those who like to use shields but are annoyed by the stacking armour glitch.

If you equip a shield and take it off for another shield, to my knowledge it still stacks, and if you just take the shield off, it stays.  However, if you equip a two-handed weapon, the stack returns to normal.  Here's an example of me finding this out:

Original Armour: 344 (35%)
   - I have The Barbarian's Blade equipped

Equipping Amell Family Shield:  478 (53%)

Unequipping: 378 (43%)

Equipping The Barbarian's Blade: 344 (35%) *The armour returned to normal

Equipping the shield then equipping the Barbarian's Blade: 344 (35%)

* Note that even though you can just equip the two handed weapon before or after unequipping the shield and it will reset it to normal, it will not reset it if you stack it.   For example, if you keep equipping and unequipping a shield and it stacks, equipping a two handed weapon will only reset the last one (remove the last stack).  So for each time you switch, you'll need to do this if the stack annoys you.
