There is a local store that said they will have DA:O in tomorrow and be selling it as soon as their shipment comes in. This isnt the first time they have broken street date. Its awesome but also kinda sucks. Since i have it reserved at Gamestop paid off and majority of it is store credit. So wish i could take advantage of it. I dont think theres many of these stores cuz if i look them up online i only get two shop listings.
Josh, this is the kind of stuff you take advantage of quietly and dont post on the interwebs. Someone has your name (from your EA account signup, not the one you posted publicly here) and IP address. That can now be traced back to a local area. From there they can find out what the closest stores getting the game are.
Not to mention you are practically asking for them to take legal action to forestall them doing exactly this... or punish them after the fact for doing so...

This is how some game stores get in trouble.
"get in trouble"? They don't get in trouble, because game companies never pursue the offenders.

ya some states had some stores that sell game earliest before release date... it alway pissing me off... but i hate waiting too so i wish i can get it at earliest date... but in my state there none like that all store come only release date...
You made a mistake in your first sentence. It's not some states, it's all cities. Do you know who sells the game early? Stores that aren't doing well. In my town, out of the big retailers, KMart and Target suck. They have 10 cars in their parking lots, and they're all employees. Their dirty, bathrooms aren't clean, bad staff, bad items, etc. They sell the games early so they get more customers. I'd personally love to go beat the **** out of those people. Or at least have the people report it. Should start an entire thread devoted to store, town, country, state/providence early sellers. That way Bioware can sue them and close down the terribleness.

No, this IS NEVER the kind of **** you sweep under the carpet. Piracy, ESPECIALLY PRE RELEASE PIRACY, totally BORKS over any distrbuter and designer.
Josh, good job, my friend. Stopping this garbage in its tracks has to happen, if we want to see PC games in the future.

The man makes an excellent point. I hope that store you're talking about doesn't get punished.
Edit: in response to the post above: I wouldn't call this piracy. They aren't stealing anything, they're just breaking an agreement. ... still, it doesn't make it any more legal

A lot of games tend to ring home and check for date on the internet during installation to make certain that the game is supposed to be out. It's not very successful though, since a simple internet plug off and system date change will do the trick.

It's also possible that prior to release date, the game cannot be installed even if you have the game.

Almost NO game out there does an internet check before install.
For most games if it is server integrated, the check is done during run or when you have to log onto a server.
For example, if you hvave to log on the EA servers to play so it can check for DLC or something.

Yes... an online activation game will work if you unplug your internetz... BRILLIANT!

Dragon Age doesn't do any sort of check itself during install or play. The only DRM is only a simple disk check. (if you don't believe me go search for the two or three dozen times its been posted by devs) I could see them preventing people from downloading their "free" DLC early, but I don' think they'd bother.

Overall it doesn't matter and people are just jealous that someone gets a game before they do. And it has nothing to really do with piracy either since they probably get it from game store employees who often take a display copy home so they can play as soon as they get the game in.
