If someone gets a PC game a week early and uploads it then a good number of people who WERE going to buy it will just pirate, this is the kind of thing thats killing PC gaming. More and more developers are going consoles because of piracy like this.
Because console piracy is impossible right?

You're laughably wrong.
I highly doubt anyone decides not to buy a game just because the download is up 2 days early. Sure, they may aquire it early but they'll still buy it if they were going to.
Now, there's plenty of people who will download it and never had the intention of purchasing it but that is a whole other story.

Alot of small specialized game stores that are not a franchise tend to sell the game before the official date. I remember such a case on a guy from germany who bought his game one day before it even came out in the US, which means he got it 4 days before he should have been.
Overall it doesn't matter and people are just jealous that someone gets a game before they do. And it has nothing to really do with piracy either since they probably get it from game store employees who often take a display copy home so they can play as soon as they get the game in.
Are you serious?
Day zero piracy is the KEY killer to sales demographics, and it only happens if people can get their filthy mitts on the materials pre-release.

SHUT UP.
Seriously.
Look at the statistics.
Example: I don't know the games name off the top of my head, but: A publisher leaked a specific pre release variant, with a rather glaring bug. This bug was resolved, and the game realeased.
Guess what?
4 out of 5 (FOUR OUT OF FIVE) support requests for the game in the following month were in relation to SAID GLARING FIXED BUG.
Day zero piracy DESTROYS game sales.

You have got to take the possibility into account that there were no further significant bugs in the game.
Plus, internet-savvy pirates are probably ten times more likely to send in requests etc.
Plusplus, it's really funny to imagine you shouting the parts written in caps.

An early retail release is not piracy. Not only that, anyone that is going to pirate DA is going to pirate it. A few days early release is not going to change those people. Also, it doesn't have to be released early for a copy to be leaked. All it takes is one employee anywhere along the distribution chain for a leak to happen.

AS STATED:
4 out of 5 (FOUR OUT OF FIVE) support requests for the game in the following month were in relation to SAID GLARING FIXED BUG.
4 out of 5 requests were in relation to said bug. What are you unable to comprehend?

Wrong. There's a reason Assassin's Creed 2 is coming to PC months after console. Not only that, anyone that is going to pirate DA is going to pirate it. A few days early release is not going to change those people.

To pirate on, say, the Xbox 360, you have to mod your hardware. Microsoft will, sooner or later -- very likely sooner -- detect this and, without warning, zap your Live account and make the console worthless.
They tend to do this in great periodic batches, so pirates don't know what did and didn't get detected. But it's a sucker's game.
For obvious reasons, PCs can't work this way.

It is interesting that stores are getting shipments this early. I will be checking with my local stores for sure.
However, this thread has rather degraded. Let's not debate piracy here. Also, it does seem rather cruel to most of us who do not have access to early copies.
