No Toolset? Or am I missing something?

So I see folks have already made mods and such, so I'd assume there was a toolset, but when I look around for one on the main site I can't find anything about it, and if I search for it, the only thing I see are a bunch of "DA2 has no toolset" articles & such.  So how are you folks making mods, if you would be so kind as to tell me?

I personally liked editing spells & abilities in DAO, so if there's not an actual toolset & folks are using secondary utilities, I'd like to know if that's a possibility.  That and making my own items (mostly so I can pick the model) are all I'm really concerned about.

we're still waiting on an official update for the toolset, in the meantime some modders have found other ways to exercise their creativity, but without a toolset they're still rather limited unfortunately

The best start I can find in a quick look over the forum is
http://social.biowar...7/index/6520807

which has more links in the 2nd post

There is also creative use of what people seem to insist on calling the DAO Toolset, which in a modified form is what Bioware used to create DAO, Awakening and DA2.

So given what these threads are telling me, I SHOULD be able to do what I'm wanting, except for the fact that I can't figure out how to open/extract the 2da RIM file? If I can get that extracted (I think) it would be simple for me to kajigger the spell/talent tables into what I want, but I can't seem to figure out how to do so?

It might be related to the toolset, which I have, but I recently swapped to Win 7 from Vista, so I'm currently having DL the SQL server business as required to run it.

Edit: Well, DLing the SQL server package from Microsoft wouldn't install for some reason, so now I'm attempting to re-download the whole Toolset 1.01 Setup app and hoping the SQL server that comes with it will work.

Download pyGFF; that will enable you to extract files from the 2da.rim file. The toolset supplied erf tools don't recognize ERF 3.0, which is what the rim and erf files for DA2 are in.

TY all for the help, I have done in theory what I set out to do, and am about to test it. We'll see how it goes!

What are you trying to do? Something with spells or talents?

Yar, I'm a cheatyface so I wanted to reduce the cost of all sustained abilities to something I thought more reasonable. Which I did, and it seems to have worked. Huzzah.

Nah that's no cheating really, most of those sustainable abilities cost way too much anyway, considering for small effects they give, so reducing the cost is perfectly reasonable :) Most have done it anyway.
