It's act 3, I've romanced up Anders, and he said yes to moving in. The dwarves say its nice to have him staying over and so on, but he's not there! He's still in his clinic. When I talk to him at his clinic all he says is "I can't go on like this"
Anders - won't move in?

I was in the opposite situation. I did not want to romance Anders, but he tricked me into letting him move in and romanced Hawke completely without her consent, blocking all other romances for the rest of the game.
He said he needed a place to hide from the templars, and I picked the dialogue option without a heart, (something like "Sure, you're welcome anytime") and then that was the end of all romances in DA2.
IIRC, he only appeared at the Hawke residence on a couple of occasions when he needed to discuss some important step of the main quest, or his Justice quest.

Oh really? I read somewhere that he's in the Hawke residence from then on.
He sounds pretty creepy in your situation

I've had another look and I don't think things are alright.
I'm in act 3 and I can't trigger Anders last companion quest. When I go to see him in his clinic he just says that maybe he should move somewhere else, or he can't go on like this.
I hope I don't have to go through hours and hours of gameplay again
Does anyone have any ideas?

ive noticed that while romance options can move in they will stay at their perspective hubs (merrils hovel, anders clinic ect)

All I can say is, that this doesn't seem to be all right. While it's true that Anders does not immediately move in with you, he should be in Hawke's estate in the third act.

Does anyone know what I can do or another place I can ask for help? As it is, I'm pretty much stuck, I can't start the Act 3 Anders quest. I've played well past the point that Anders was supposed to move in, I don't want to have to go back to that part and replay hours and hours.

It sounds like your game has glitched..... You get the quest 'Justice' pretty close to the start of Act 3. You may have to go back. Could try the technical help forum?

Anders is out planting bombs.
(Protip to no one in particular -- if you don't want to romance a character, NEVER click the "heart" options. Ever. Sheesh.)

Have you tried talking to him in his clinic to get the quest, or are you only trying to speak to him in the estate?
I romanced him in my last playthrough, and while he said he'd move in, in Act 2, he didn't appear in the mansion, but pretty much stayed in his clinic. He did appear in the mansion in Act 3, but I couldn't talk to him there--he just kept saying canned remarks. I had to speak to him in his clinic (funny how he's in two places at the same time) to advance his quests.
On edit: Hmm, just noticed this was a necro. Hope the TC worked out his problem!

You're glitched, Snorky. That's not normal gameplay.

"Necro" is thread necromancy--bringing back a dormant thread from the dead by posting in it. When I replied, I didn't look at the date of your first post, else I'd have seen it was over a week before, assumed you'd resolved your problem, and not answered.
I'm sorry to hear your problem hasn't, in fact, resolved. It does seem like a glitch--you should be able to get the quest from Anders in his clinic, if nowhere else. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to resolve it. Maybe check the technical thread corresponding to your platform?
Good luck!
