Big things aside like quests and bugs and plot holes and brilliant writing.... what were some of the little things you liked about the game? Things that were completely optional to RPG design, but still made the game experience more immersive.

I like that kirkwall actually changed from act to act, if you looked up in lowtown the buildings got additions and stuff.

Sandal scratching his ass. I loled seeing that detail.

The cloud movement over the dalish camp. Wait long enough and you see cloud shadows. I thought it was a nice touch.

Some of the codex entries were good, "band of three" and "enigma of kirkwall" really perked my interest. i would have liked a brighter font though, was hard to read for me.

Aveline noticing what you did with her original shield. Even though most of the game railroaded my decisions, I thought this little touch really made me feel my decisions mattered.

What little things did you like?

Additions to the buildings? I admittedly wasn't that attentive to the changes in Kirkwall (I saw no immediate changes, was apathetic, and looked no further) so I'm going to request a bit of elaboration on that one, sounds nice.

Fenris and Isabela sleeping together if you didn't romance either of them (although I heard it's more specifically if you denied both of them) was nice, interesting that they actually moved on and formed a sort of relationship that I expected from more of my companions.

Sandal and the darkspawn massacre at his feet. You knew it was coming, still his responses to what happened were classic. Right then and there you wished you had a companion slot open up......

The realistic atmosphere when you were at the city...specially the building's paint falling from the buildings in Lowtown...the atmosphere was amazing and certainly make up for the lack of areas.

I really liked how your companions would talk to passerby NPCs. When for example you take Aveline to Hightown, people on the street chat to her, is Isabela at the docks.
Also, when your companions shout something out if you or any other companion fall in battle. Some things they say are really funny actually, and absolutely unnecessary for the game, but it makes the so alive, I wouldnt want it any other way.

There is also sky changing color between the acts. In act 1, the sky is blue, in Act 2 - almost yellowish, and in Act 3 - it's red. I've only noticed it on my second playthrough

I like some of the responses for the sarcastic route on Hawke. Also how they gave us some of our 'REAL' favorites... And not say 'Everyone's favorite!' And throw Ogrhen in >.> ....Gawd I hated that dwarf...

I also really liked that when hawke went around the Amell estate he/she would mention little stories and tidbits of life. Like their journal/diary/memoirs and how varric or isabela wrote stuff in it, or how Leandra's room was off-limits in all time periods. It would have been easier to make the estate completely non-interactive but i thought these tidbits, though really small, really helped to flesh out hawke's story.

Changes to the camera angles during conversations. I REALLY liked this change.

In origins you spend hours making your character's face juuuuuust perfect (well, I did) and then 99% of the time you only get to look at the back of his/her head.

In DA2, when Hawke is talking to people, the camera is actually on his/her face a decent amount of the time, with close-ups and everything. So if you created a face that you enjoy looking at, you actually get to look at it!

I liked that Zevran shows up in the fight with Meredith... even though it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I liked the "examine" in the house - wish the spots maybe changed from time to time, but still nice.

Mage trousers.
Romances moving into your house. Idle animations for femHawke.
Better cutscenes - it's not just people stood there all the time, they move around, the camera changes, they interact.
Friendship and rivalry.
Companions having relationships with one another.

Now I for one laughed my arse off at Sandal's responses about what happened. It was just so neat and appropriate. Also the fact that Sanday had more words to say than just Enchantment!

Then there is the fact of Aveline's comment about Mother Patrice when you meet her in the Chantry "Shes A ****". I think we've all come across women we thought this of.

As for Oghren I will have to admit that the drunk dwarf does grow on you and I missed having him around.

I agree the conversation cut scenes is actually framed very well. I didn't notice until my second run. Camera actually switch between Hawke and people he's talking to, and the composition is very good.

Also, when Hawke is talking, other party member will look at him.

random conversation on the street between NPCs, the talkative man in Hang Man.

Wounded coast has the most beautiful ocean scene.

Sacarstic Hawke talking to him/herself randomly, some of them are very funny (like broken bone cave, massive head injury bay... I laughed so hard when hearing that one).

Over all smooth animation.

Conversation in Act 3 with Bodhen, when he told Hawke he and Sandel will be leaving soon, and the last shot with two of them standing in front of the fireplace. In fact, all conversation between Hawke/Bodhen and Sandel are very well made.

Apparently, Fenris, Varric, Isabella and Mirrell play cards on a regular bases. That's a very very nice touch.

Varris' nick name for everyone, who's Sunshine?

Bethany

Speaking of which, i really liked that companions can be part of the conversation with third parties. Like when varric convinces the templar you're "Enchanter Hawke from the Circle of ferelden" or even "Knight Commander Hawke" depending on your class.  Another case is when your sibling talks down ferelden loyalists or Aveline talks down a guard. It really made the companions feel like actual friends rather than canon fodder or weapons on legs.

3-way party banters, and banters that included Hawke.

The cut scenes that showed interation between your party members, and related banters that suggested that they had relationships with each other that didn't always include Hawke.

The scene with Hawke's LI following All That Remains, and the fact that other companions also commented and expressed sympathy, plus other occasions where they expressed concern for Hawke (in my character's case, mostly trying to warn her off of Anders). I'm used to companions being exclusively "me me me" and this was a pleasant change.

As someone else mentioned, the fact that they say things when other party members fall in battle (actually, all of the battle/victory/potion drinking cries were great); it's as if they actually pay attention to each other. All in all, little things added up to make the companions feel much more real to me than in previous games.

Pretty much everything mentioned in this thread. Also Hawkes' unprompted dialog changing based on your personality.

Many, many internet smooches to the designer who made the practical mage clothing.

 Idle animations for femHawke.

I liked these, too.  Also all the idle animations for the NPCs and that they are unique to them.

Yes in my second playthru I took notes of all this aswell, love funny hawk , she talks to herself and make me lol, while walking in to a place and get attacked she shows how  happy she is  because she was getting bored rofl.

When she find that note.. omg lol I had to  pause the game and laugh.

The dalish leader* knows you from inside out, I really liked that part.

And you have to get use to the game to actually stop and listen, I'll like to ask to anyone who doesn't like the game to give it another shot too,  like I have. Is not as bad as you/me thought is just different.:)

The mini-map. It's a superior mini-map when compared to Origins' tiny little circle.

Skill trees.

The evolving personalities for Hawke.

Friendship/Rivalry.

Banter.

There's a lot of small improvements in this game.

I like that long hair actually sways realistically with gravity. It always bothered me in older games that hair seemed to be held in place with stronger-than-armor gel making it perfectly rigid.

I agree with the skill trees, its a different approach and a welcomed one.

A small thing i liked was auto-looting. i HATED having to manually go around and loot.
