I am playing as a Mage and mostly have Ferris, Varic and Anders in my party. My question is, should I be giving Ferris Taunt or something like that?  it seems my Mage attracts the threat as soon as he casts a spell.  I am obviously not managing threat well.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Are you playing on Console or PC?

If on PC set varric up as your aggro-manager with Goad and Armistice (sp?) (if your on console both of these skills are bugged atm)

Also add this to fenris tactical setup
If enemey attacking Hawke -> Attack
If enemy attacking nameofpartymember -> attack
if enemy attacking nameofpartymember -> attack

Taunt and Bravery (once upgraded) are the best ways to get a warrior to collect agro.

This isn't a bad tactic, but using

Party being attacked by Melee/Ranged => Attack

Will not only save you 2 tactic slots, but will keep your magic attacks off of Fenris and on your mages. Since magic defense is dictated by the Magic stat, your mages are better suited to take magic damage which would otherwise bypass most of Fenris's defenses and drop his health faster than anything else, not to mention he'll be so busy running to attack everyone at once that he'll be spread too thin and be almost useless in a fight.

Mm true, but fenris actually has a pretty decent magical defense raiting (late game) but at the start ya he might be better of dodging magical attacks all together ^_^
