When you get attached to the NPCs in the game, so that once you've finished the game you miss them, just a little. Bioware do that better than anyone else.
This. I've never cared so much about not-real people in my life.

You begin your adventure having been hand picked for a special training by a mentor. After a few hours the game's linear starting area will be destroyed or otherwise ravaged by something. You will then have to trek to various areas on the map in search of several MacGuffins. On your way you will collect a small following of social misfits who drop everything and follow you because they like adventuring so much, you will probably sleep with one or more of them. Once you have the MacGuffins something you weren't supposed to expect will be revealed, and then you must confront the big bad. Afterwards there will be some kind of reward ceremony.
...hahahahahahahaha! That pretty much sums it up!
