I thought we had established this already - it takes the darkspawn so long to march to Denerim, because on their way, they terraform every inch of conquered land into mordor. :|

Well and eating the surviving males, and taking the surviving females to the deeproads...y'know the usual time consumming stuff...

They don't eat all the males or not eat all the females..
Ye ain't getting off that easy..

Granted, getting eaten *is* the better option here >.<

Would I have liked it? Sure.

Would the game be infinitely better with it put in? Definitely not.

The game would have been awesome if it started in Ostagar. Carver, Hawke, and Aveline all fought in the battle so it makes for a dramatic tie-in with Origins.

You could also create some cameos and put Duncan, the gray Warden and Alistair doing something from Origins. I mean you could have basically copy/pasted terrain from Origins to get this done faster! :(

Bah, what a wasted opportunity for what could have been a truly epic opening.

Did Hawke stepped over Ostagar at any time?

That's the main problem why this isn't in the game. Rogue Hawke apostate hawke and warrior hawke all have different backgrounds of what they were doing, before they ran away.

If you're no mage you and Carver fought at Ostagar.

Nope they both do, and both get to be insane ghouls until they wither and die aside from the "lucky" 10% (I think) of females who get to be... that..

I have to agree with this. I wouldn't mind a DLC that shows an alternate perspective of Hawke at Ostagar, getting back to Lothering, and then going on the run. I'd just be happy with a Sten appearance.

I get why they wanted to get the game going...(some complained about how the first game was too slow), but Bioware shuld take advantage of their strong lore and characters from the first game. And why not let us hang out in Gwaren for a while? It might not make sense with Varric as the narrator, but...I dunno...it's one of those small things that could have enriched the story.

I agree, an origin in Lothering would have really helped allowed you to establish Hawke's connection to the rest of family before you went on the run, as well as providing you with the ability to get a better sense of Hawke as well.

Rogue hawke and Warrior Hawke both were soldiers who fought at Ostigar with Carver. Mage-Hawke might be a bit tricky, but the story could have easily been adjusted to explain it. He could have been drafted to fight because he's a young man needed on the front line. Then his mage-ness gets exposed, but they let it slide because they need every able body.

Hence the quotes.. :bandit:
Really it's the most horrible thing in all of Dragon Age for me, I sometimes want to slap the writers for making me think about it..

*mage Hawke attempts to use a sword*

"Erghn... I'm going to HARM you!" *swings weakly and misses, gets conked on the head by a Darkspawn*

I mean it could have been simply done. a horde of darkspawn jump out of the bushes and are looking to kill hawke/carver and the patrol unit. Then Hawke realizing his dear bro is about to die unleashes some fireballs to save the day. The captain thanks him for saving his life and promises not to tell the templar because he too had a sister who was a mage.

Then you're free to run around fireballing some ogres in the face.

I agree. It's a real shame there were no broodmothers in DA2. In fact, the more disguisting aspects of the darkspawn seemed to be absent entirely, the Deep Roads didn't even have any meat on the walls! Absurd!

Wouldn't it be a twist if mage Hawke served under Loghain?

The Cailan that basically went "Sure, I'll hang Howe, and get you your castle back, but for tonight, join that super secret order of psychos who blackmailed you into coming, and give up all status in the world, I'm really happy for you?"

That Cailan? :bandit:
